The Balm Hot Mama! Blush

Photobucket

This is my favourite blush to pick up and use at the moment. I saw this before Christmas in TK Maxx and I snapped it up. I paid £5.99 for it which is an absolute bargain, considering that it usually retails at around £15.00! Love the retro packaging!

In case anyone isn't aware, The Balm  is a cosmetics brand from San Francisco. Their line is based around simplicity, and they produce high quality multi-tasking products in quirky vintage inspired packaging.

Hot Mama Blush is a shadow and a blush in one. It is a pinky-peach shade with a shimmer that makes your cheeks glow. It is also virtually identical to Benefit Coralista, so if you have Coralista already, then you probably don't need this. However in my opinion, Hot Mama is more pigmented than Coralista and you have to apply it with a really light hand. The texture of the blush is soft, and therefore picks up onto the brush very easily. Only a tiny amount is needed for both cheeks - a little definitely goes a long way with this product!

I have not yet tried it as an eyeshadow, but I do think it would work really well for this.

Here it is in action.....

I absolutely adore the colour and the subtle golden glow it gives my cheeks. This will be even more gorgeous, worn in the spring/summer months!

  5. It really does enliven your skin tone - for me it is too warm and being cack handed with blush I could see myself looking warm teracotta all over, not good for me! Love the new header/title banner thingy. Jan x

  9. I totally love this blush and would love to try more shades! I found that these two shades (the shadow and the blush) paired really nicely with each other as the blush is such a strong shade and the shadow so natural. Thought I was getting was a fairly matte looking purple color turned out to be a shimmering purple eye shadow. The eyes are one of the most noticeable features on a person’s face, and the right eye makeup can definitely bring out the natural shape and color of a person’s eyes. You can use the right shade of eye shadow to draw attention to your gorgeous peepers and to complement your eye color. Thanks for nice tips.
