I gave in to the hype of this product and bought a tube a few weeks ago. So I can now give you my thoughts on this cult beauty product.
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is..... ''A cult beauty product, for 20 years a best-seller, with unsurpassable pick-me-up properties. This 'Cinderella in a tube' gives skin a fresh and radiant glow. It immediately eliminates all signs of fatigue: facial features appear rested and smooth. The cream in contact with the skin remains soft and pliable to fill out fine lines, while the cream in contact with the air sets to a firming film which gives skin a radiant glow. It promotes a radiant complexion and long-lasting, incredibly luminous make-up. The ideal treatment before a busy day or an evening out. Skin Type: All skin types.'' Source
To use you simply apply a small amount to the palm of your hands, swipe together and swiftly smooth over the face in a few small sweeping movements. The trick is to apply only a thin layer and not to rub it in as you will risk the product breaking up. You want it to literally sit on top of the skin. Foundation should then be applied immediately, whilst the Beauty Balm is still damp.
Here is a swatch of it in action.........

You can see in the picture above that it does leave the skin looking dewy, glowing with a fresh appearance.
I find this product super easy to use, and it has a pleasant floral fragrance. Immediately after using I can see a difference in the appearance of my skin. It does appear brighter and glowing. Please do not think though that it will make fine lines simply vanish, as it most definitely does not. I didn't notice any difference with my fine lines to be honest. It does however, give my skin a a moisture boost, and makes my skin appear more rested as promised. Tightening action? Nope, not for me anyway.
Overall, I think it is a lovely product to use and gives my skin a nice glow. Is it worth all the hype? Probably not to be honest and I'm not sure it's not really worthy of a £27.50 price tag either! Yes it does give me a brighter complexion but I won't be repurchasing when I run out, as I'm sure I can achieve exactly the same thing with cheaper priced radiance booster on the market.
I'm really glad you did a review on this, was thinking about slipping it into my order online yesterday but refrained myself! xx
ReplyDeleteI can vouch for Skin Wisdom Instant Beauty Balm (I think it may only be available at Tesco) being able to do exactly the same things as the Clarins version. Plus when I picked it up, it was around £4.
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly the same way. It's nice but that's it really. X
ReplyDeletei want to try it but the price is just so high. you can buy a good quality foundation in this money. I wish it was cheaper. Thanks for the lovely review :) <3
ReplyDelete@Lydia, yeah, it's a shame it doesn't live up to it's hype. I was really hoping it would! x
ReplyDelete@FashionablyUninvited, I'll have to check it out. Thanks! :) x
@Glitterish Allsorts, I know...it's way to be expensive to be 'just nice!' x
@Fragrancia, Yeah, I agree. I'd definitely rather buy a good foundation than this. There will be cheaper versions that do exactly the same job for sure. x
