I nipped into Illamasqua a couple of weeks ago and picked up two lipsticks in the sale. I also finally managed to get hold of Rude cream blush which I've wanted for such a long time!

I really didn't need yet another red lipstick, I have way too many as it is! But I just could resist buying these.... I'm an addict!

Illamasqua Sangers lipstick is a gorgeous blood red shade. Illamasqua lipsticks are incredibly pigmented and last for hours on my lips with a couple of coats. This red shade contains both blue and orange tones, and looks ever so slightly pink toned once applied next to my warm complexion. Such a beautiful colour though!

Illamasqua Encounter is my favourite out of the two lipsticks. Described by Illamasqua as a classic brick red. This red has orange tones and looks so lovely on. It really suits my complexion well and looks much more red on my lips than Sangers does. I seriously love this one, but I think I still prefer Illamasqua Maneater red lipstick the best. Encounter comes close, but not close enough. Maneater remains my favourite red lipstick so far. I have reviewed Illamasqua Maneater lipstick here, if anyone is interested in taking a look.

Illamasqua Rude Cream Blush (pictures above are very true to colour).

I have wanted this blush for so log it is ridiculous! Every time I have tried to buy it, there has never been any in stock. I suppose I could have bought one online, but I wanted to test it out in the shop before I bought it. Sometimes there hasn't even been a tester of it out when I've been there which is very annoying! Not this time though, tester was available and plenty in stock so I've finally got my hands on one, and I'm so glad I did!

It is simply gorgeous. Described by Illamasqua as a warm peach pink with a dewy finish. I find this description pretty accurate. I think it is definitely more peach than pink though and provides the most wonderful warm flush. It's so easy to apply and is a lovely consistency, not greasy and easily blendable. I tend to just use my fingers but using a stippling brush is a great way of applying too. Longevity is fantastic and lasts hours on my dry skin. This blush was well worth the wait. It's such a unique colour and I love the dewiness it provides....perfect!

Burt's Bees Citrus Facial Scrub

Hi all,

Sorry for the complete lack of posts this past month or so. I've been extremely busy in my personal life, and have recently changed jobs, so it's been a bit stressful and hectic to say the least! Time just seems to go so fast lately!

I thought I would share with you a product that I've been using almost daily for the past few weeks.....

Burt's Bees Citrus Facial Scrub

''Burt's Bees' Citrus Facial Scrub is a natural sulfate-free facial scrub that contains finely ground almonds, oats, pecans and rose petals to gently exfoliate skin. An all-natural, plant-based cleansing complex removes traces of excess oil, dirt and make-up and sweet almond oil and glycerin moisturise for smoother, softer skin, naturally.'' source

This is dry and grainy in texture in the jar, but softens up the second that water touches it. Because of this, I find that it is best to get a bit out of the jar prior to wetting my face. That way it ensures that the products stays dry within the jar itself. The scent reminds me of Christmas, it's so lovely and has a spicy orange aroma.

I tend to remove my make up prior to using this, dampen my face, rub into my skin then rinse away. It really does give a deep cleanse without feeling at all harsh. My skin is dry and has the tendency to flake if I don't exfoliate enough. I find this scrub not only exfoliates really well, but it is also gentle enough to use every day. I've been using this almost every night and it agrees with my skin well.

You literally only need to use a tiny amount, as shown in the pictures above. This is enough to cleanse my entire face and neck area, so the jar should last a good length of time. I love how my skin feels and looks after using this, it not only looks radiant but also feels soft and smooth.

It's a fabulous natural scrub, I highly recommend!

Avon SuperSHOCK Range

A while ago I tried Avon's Supershock black gel eye liner pencil. Thought it was amazing, and really wanted to try some more products from the range.

Here is Avon SuperSHOCK Eyeshadow Pencil, SuperSHOCK Gel Eyeliner in Silver and SuperSHOCK Mascara.

The SuperSHOCK Eyeshadow Pencil is double ended. I have it in Princess Pink and Royal Velvet. I think this is lovely and is great for using as a base underneath eyeshadows. It gives the shadow something to cling to, makes it last longer and helps the colour become more vibrant. I haven't worn it on it's own so not sure whether it wears well that way, but when worn with a shadow on top it last all day on my eyes. I love the purple shade especially, great for green eyes!

Like the SuperSHOCK black gel eye liner, the silver one is equally as amazing. It is intensely vibrant and lasts for hours once applied. This really looks stunning worn on the waterline for an evening out. Looks very chic and instantly glams up any neutral shadow. Would be great to have in your make up bag, for those times where you have to glam up in a hurry. This will take you from daytime to night time in an instant! I love this!

The SuperSHOCK black mascara has quite a large plastic bristle brush (a bit like Max Factor False Lash Effect), which I am not too keen on. I much prefer a smaller brush as I find these easier to work with. However, I did love the effect it gave my lashes, and the fact that it did not clump. It also did a nice job of separating my lashes, giving them more length. I was left feeling quite impressed!

I really hope Avon extend their range of SuperSHOCK gel eye liner and eyeshadow pencils. I would love to see more colours become available! I will be first in line to buy!

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Epatant

I perused the Chanel counter this weekend and tested out the new Illusion D'Ombre, Long Wear Luminous Shadows.

To be honest, after trying them out, I really wanted them all! They are all so beautiful. In the end I decided to buy..........

Epatant (84), a stunning metallic grey/silver/khaki shade. It's quite hard to pinpoint what colour it actually is, as it can differ in different lighting.

This has an odd consistency, and feels dry to touch and a bit spongy. Strangely, it is incredibly smooth and easy to work with. Once on, it sets and does not budge. The shadow also comes with a cute little brush, which is a bit small to apply with really. It may make a good eye liner brush though.

I'm in love with the colour. It is simply stunning, and I can't wait to wear it. I will be wearing this for my Christmas nights out for sure!

I really want to get hold of Illusoire and Mirifique too, as they are equally as stunning as Epatant!

RapidLash: Results 4 Weeks

So I thought I'd share with you my results with RapidLash so far. I've been using it now for just over 4 weeks.

Before using RapidLash (bare lashes, no mascara)........

After 4 Weeks.........

I can see and feel a definite increase in the density of my lashes. There is a slight increase in length too, but mainly I feel they have become a bit thicker and stronger.

Fingers crossed they continue to grow well over the next 4 weeks. I really want some more length!

Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment & Nourishing Leave-In Cream

I had my hair cut a few weeks ago and the hairdresser used Macadamia Natural Oil hair products. My hair felt amazing afterwards so I knew I just had to get some for myself to use at home. I bought the Healing Oil Treatment and the Nourishing Leave-In Cream.

The Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment is a therapeutic oil perfect for all hair types and is especially beneficial to dry, damaged hair. It provides natural UV protection from photo and sun damage, infusing the hair with moisture and nutrients. This helps rejuvenate dry and brittle hair, by giving it increased shine and control. It can also reduce drying time!

This is such a great product. It smells fabulous and really does reduce the time it takes to dry my hair. I use a small amount and run through the lengths and ends of my towel dried hair. It makes my hair feel so silky and soft. I also run a pea sized amount through my hair after I have finished styling it. It helps to tame down any fly aways and gives it an amazing shine! Love this!

The Macadamia Leave-In Cream is is a leave-in conditioner texture cream infused with nourishing oils, to tame frizz while adding silky softness, shine and UV protection. I use this in conjunction with the Healing Oil Treatment and I find they work wonderfully together. My hair is a lot less frizzy when I use this product and it never makes my hair feel greasy or weighed down. I love how healthy my hair looks after using these products and they are so reasonably priced too!

I purchased them both from Cheap Smells. The Healing Oil Treatment is currently £9.95 and the Nourishing Leave-In Cream is currently £4.50 on the site.

I'm really keen to try some of the other products in the range. I've now got my beady eye on the Deep Repair Masque and the Moisturising Rinse.

Mac Fresh Brew Lipstick

Here is my favourite lipstick at the moment. Mac Fresh Brew.

Mac describes it as 'Creamed Coffee'. For me it is the perfect nude/beige shade. It's what I would term Fool proof., because it literally goes with everything, can be applied in the dark with no mirror, and it looks perfect every time! It leaves such a beautiful finish on the lips too, making them look healthy and lush!

This never leaves my bag......it's a firm favourite!

Dr.Organic: Organic Tea Tree Blemish Stick

Here is Dr.Organic Tea Tree Blemish Stick. This is one of the products I'm currently using when a zit decides to erupt on my chin.

As soon as an angry spot appears I apply this and it really helps to take down that inflammation/heat. On application it instantly feels soothing (especially useful when you've just squeezed one!) and has a lovely pleasant Tea Tree oil scent. I really love Tea Tree oil products. Tea Tree has wonderful antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic qualities....just what is needed to when having an outbreak. It isn't a miracle worker (what spot product is?) but I do find it helps to reduce the size of the blemish quickly and reduces pain and irritation.

Avon True Colour 6 in 1 Eye Palette: Neutral Eyes

Here is the other Avon True Colour Eye palette I have, in 'Neutral Eyes'

The Neutral Eyes palette contains 6 eyeshadows. Neutral satin and matte finishes. Also has a handy mirror and 2 sponge applicators, which were of course binned straight away....does anyone really use these?

This is another great palette from Avon. I'm really impressed by the quality of the shadows. They are much more pigmented than I ever thought they would be. They blend very easily and last all day over my eyeshadow primer. The colours in this palette are lovely too......all very flattering and wearable for any time of the day.

Illamasqua Freak

I was more than delighted when this little sample bottle of Illamasqua's new perfume 'Freak' came through my letterbox the a few weeks ago.

Freak is Illamasqua's first perfume and is a concoction of exotic and dangerous flowers, which celebrates the night and darkness

The notes.........

The bottle itself is unique. Leaning to one side with a sweet little silver snail that leaves a trail on the perfume bottle. This represents Illamasqua's love of beauty in all things, especially the unconventional. I'm guessing it also may symbolise the trail of perfume left behind by the wearer?

Prior to receiving this, I had read the notes of the fragrance online and thought it sounded right up my street, I wasn't wrong. On first spray it smells quite floral, but as the fragrance develops on the skin, it morphs into a darker, spicy/smokier scent. This must be the Frankincense, Oud and Myrrh. It isn't at all overpowering and is very wearable for any time of the day. I find that the base notes linger with a hint of floral sweetness in the background...... It is absolutely beautiful and has amazing longevity and sillage! I can't stop sniffing my wrists when I'm wearing it, it's seriously intoxicating and very addictive!

If you like fruity/florals then this perfume won't be for you. However, if you do like different perfumes that are deep, dark and mysterious then rush out and try this one, it doesn't disappoint.

6 blendable shadows in 1 palette with a handy mirror. A mixture of violet, pink and blue/grey satin finish shades.

These shadows are really lovely for the price. I find them densely pigmented and last well over an eyeshadow primer. They are nice and smooth, and blend easily too. The palette is so versatile as all the shades compliment each other, so you can achieve quick, simple chic looks for daytime, or completely glam it up and go for a full on look for evening wear.

I think the colours are beautiful and compliment green eyes especially. Here is a look I've created with the palette............

Badger Balm

Here is my collection of Badger Balms. I first discovered the Badger brand after the birth of my second son 6 years ago. My son had dry patches skin on his face when he was a newborn, and I wanted to use something as natural as possible to treat it. I found the Badger Baby Balm online and ordered myself a tin to try. After using it and loving it I decided to try out more balms in the range.

Healing Balm was the first product that the Badger brand produced.

Healing Balm contains Sweet Birch and Wintergreen Oils, which have been traditionally used as an antiseptic, a muscle rub, and to ease the occasional symptoms of skin problems like psoriasis and eczema.

As you can see in the picture above, my Healing Balm is well used! Due to my job, and having to use alcohol hand rub gel constantly throughout the day, my hands become extremely dry and quite often, my skin will crack around the knuckle area. This is where the Badger Healing balm comes in. The second I put this on I can instantly feel it relieving the tightness, and it feels incredibly soothing. The scent is quite medicinal and may not be to everyone's taste, but I really like it. I believe it is also available in an unscented version too. I love this stuff. It's a total saviour for dry, sore skin!

Badger Foot Balm. Again, as you can see......very well used! Peppermint, Tea Tree and Rosemary are the main ingredients in this tin and are the perfect combination for sore/tired feet. I love applying this after a bath before bed. Gives a nice cooling/tingling sensation and intensely hydrates skin overnight. Great for cracked heels!

Badger Baby Balm was my first Badger discovery 6 years and I still love and use it today.

I use this all the time.... on my children especially. It is wonderful for those pesky dry patches of skin that sometimes erupt. This literally sorts them out overnight. It's gentle and soothing for irritated skin, nappy rash etc. It's a truly wonderful product that I will never be without. I'm also quite addicted to the chamomile scent. One whiff takes me right back to the memories of cuddling my newborn son!

I'm literally a sucker for anything that contains lavender and rosemary. These scents remind me of my mother so I find them very comforting! Which is why I decided to buy this one. Popping a little bit of this on temples, under nose, on lips helps to calm and relax the mind, to hopefully help you get off to sleep. The scent is lovely and I do love putting this on before bed. Not sure if it really helps to induce sleep? I don't seem to have much problem as I'm so blinking tired most of the time, but I do find the scent soothing and comforting.

Badger Evolving Body Balm......

This has been repackaged since I purchased mine, but it apparently is the same lovely product. This smells of roses. A really delicate scent, not overpowering in any way. Again this balm is wonderful for dry skin. I use this on my face and I find that it sinks in really well. It is especially good for the winter when my face seems top get weather beaten! For the flaky skin that tends to appear at the edges of my nose and on my forehead.

Badger Lavender & Orange Lip & Body Balm.

This contains Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Beeswax, Extracts of Aloe Vera, Rose Hip & Sea Buckthorn Berry, and Essential Oils of Lavender, Sweet Orange & Sicilian Orange. Like all the balms, this can be used anywhere on the body, not just the lips and is just perfect for cuticles, elbows, heels, or anywhere else dry skin patches appear. I probably didn't need this one but I just can't resist the cute little tins when i see them!

One of the best things for me about Badger Balms is that not only are they fantastic for moisturising skin, but that they also do not contain mineral oil. I prefer to stay away from petroleum products these days. I simply adore the packaging and the fact it is a family owned company. I will purchase these again and again. I love them.

Badger are a brand well worth checking out if you haven't already!

Mac Blushbaby Sheertone Blush

As you can see in the picture above, I have totally hit pan on my well used and very much loved......Mac Blushbaby Sheertone Blush.

This gorgeous little pot of beige pink loveliness, is my 'go to' blush. It is the one I use the most, virtually everyday actually. I wear this daily to work and quite often at the weekends too. It is just the most easy blush to wear in my opinion, and looks really natural.

As it is a Sheertone blush, it goes on quite sheer and can be built up for a much more dramatic effect. This blush is fool proof and will never go on too heavy, unless of course you want it too! It gives such a lovely natural flush on my skin tone. No shimmer, just the right amount of colour, which lasts for hours on my skin. I can't get enough of it!

As soon as this baby runs out I'll be trotting off down to Mac to snap another one up immediately. I quite simply cannot live without it!

Dry Hair Saviour: Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Ultra Hydrating Balm

I've made a new discovery which has done wonders for my hair. Matrix Biolage Hydrotherapie Ultra Hydrating Balm.

Since lightening my hair a while back, my hair has become extremely dry/damaged. It has slowly been recovering with a weekly coconut oil treatment, but being as impatient as I am. I want faster results. So after endless researching online (you know the score) I found this little gem, bought it and waited patiently for it to arrive.

I was worried that it wasn't going to live up to my high expectations if I'm being completely honest. Oh how wrong I was, it is truly wonderful!

''Imagine…breaking hair’s dehydration cycle*. With nourishing formulas infused with aloe vera and passion fruit, for continuous moisture replenishment. New Biolage Hydrathérapie leaves dry hair touchably soft and healthy-looking.

Ultra Hydrating Balm intensely conditions very dry, coarse hair. Formulated with a sumptuous blend of silk amino acids and shea butter to envelop and smooth the cuticle, helping to lock out humidity, frizz & unwanted volume.'' Source

After shampooing, I towel dry my hair first and then apply the product with my fingers. It is a thick creamy consistency. I then comb through my hair thoroughly. It says on the instructions to leave on the hair for 1-2 minutes then rinse. If you want some serious re-hydration then I do not think leaving any brand of conditioner on for such a short amount of time is going to make much difference. I therefore pile my hair up onto the top of my head, place a plastic bag over the top (no I'm not going mad) followed by a towel. Your body heat will get trapped in the plastic bag which helps the hair cuticle open up so the conditioner can penetrate inside. You can also use a hairdryer over the bag prior to putting the towel over to give added heat.

I then leave the conditioner on for as long as possible. 2 hours the first time I used it and 30 mins + for subsequent applications. Basically the longer the better really, you really can tell the difference! Oh.....and this stuff smells bloody gorgeous, I can't describe the scent, but it just reminds me of the hairdressers.......that fabulous salon scent that lingers on your hair for hours!

I cannot rave about this conditioner enough. It has left my very damaged hair feeling really hydrated, stronger, soft and manageable. It has lost that straw like feel it possessed before and it really does deliver what it promises, locking out humidity and taming frizz. It states on the packaging for 'thick, course hair', now my hair is quite thick but definitely not course. My hair type is fine, wavy/curly in its natural state and has the tendency to frizz. Since using this product my hair is definitely a whole lot less frizzy than it was before....at least 90%. It hasn't taken away the frizz completely (what will), I still get the odd flyaway here and there, but it is a vast improvement. My hair also never feels heavy, greasy or weighed down with this product.

My hair has been transformed......from dull and dead to.... shiny, healthy and alive! I'm in love!

I've been applying the serum to both my upper and lower lash line each night before bed after cleansing and removing all traces of eye make up etc. It is really easy to apply...just like a liquid eyeliner and literally takes seconds.

I am going to use the RapidLash religiously, every night over the next eight weeks to see if this product really does deliver what it promises, longer and stronger eyelashes.

This has become my new favourite lip product and is quite frankly one of the best I have ever tried! It is for me, a cross between a lip gloss and a balm. It hydrates and plumps out my lips, whilst at the same time, gives them a lovely sheen. It is neither sticky or tacky, which is great as my hair doesn't get stuck on it every five minutes!

It isn't overly glossy but has light reflecting particles in it which provide you with a rather chic 'my lips but better look'. The light hits the lips and makes them appear fuller with a subtle hint of colour. Clarins are right when they say it gives you kissable, luscious lips....it really does! Even though it says it's a gel, I find it really quite creamy in consistency, and it smells absolutely delicious too....like caramel. I also like the spongy applicator tip thingy....so easy to apply, no mirror needed!

This literally hasn't left my bag since I bought it (my other lipsticks cannot get a look in!), and I will more than likely be purchasing the other 2 shades available soon. My lips are so soft since I started using this.......I highly recommend!

Here is Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation that I've been using for the past 6 weeks or so. After trying out a sample of this I fell in love instantly had to have it in my life!

I purchased it in shade B20 which matches my NC20 skin well. It also adapts to my skin when my fake tan is on so I have no need to purchase two shades which is great!

This foundation is a bit pricey (well it is Chanel!) but worth the cost in my opinion. It is a lightweight foundation that gives me a light-medium coverage. Slightly more coverage than a tinted moisturiser. If you are looking for a heavy foundation then this definitely won't be for you. It evens out my skin tone well, but does not completely mask all imperfections (such as my thread veins). It does however, minimize them well. I can then apply some concealer to the areas that need a little bit more coverage and that does the trick.

It is a water based foundation which has a pleasant scent. I find that it is best applied with my fingers. It glides on easily, blends beautifully and the end result for me is a 'my skin but way better' look. It literally looks like a second skin. It also gives my skin a natural luminosity without a hint of shimmer in sight. I love this foundation....it's just gives such an amazing natural result, that lasts a full working day and beyond on my skin.

Illamasqua Maneater

I need another red lipstick like I need a hole in the head, but I just couldn't resist when I clapped my eyes on this little beauty!

I popped into Fenwicks, whilst away in Newcastle the other weekend to fill up my Thierry Mugler Alien perfume, and while there, I picked up some more Mac Fix + and had a root around the Illamasqua counter.

I originally wanted to buy Illamasqua Rude cream blush but alas, it was out of stock! *rolls eyes* I don't know why, but every Illamasqua counter I go to, the Rude blush is never in stock? I've been trying to get hold of it now for around a year and a half! My nearest Illamasqua counter is 30 miles up the road so I don't get to go there that often. I'm now figuring that I shall have to either buy the blush online or simply give up! I'm predicting it will be the former! :)

Here is the lipstick I couldn't resist......Illamasqua Maneater, which Illamasqua describe as a classic matte cherry red. Unfortunately, when I bought this and returned to my hotel later on to get ready for an evening out, I opened this lipstick to discover that it was in fact broken in the tube. The lipstick was stuck in the lid and was in a right state. I was completely miffed off as you can well imagine as I was looking forward to wearing it that night! So I marched back down to Fenwicks the following morning and the lovely girl on the counter could not apologize enough, and swapped it for a new one. I asked her if this was a common problem with these lipsticks and she said no, that it was very rare for this to happen. I am hoping this is true as I really don't want it to happen again!

I would say that Maneater is quite a true red, with both orange and blue undertones. The pigmentation in this lipstick is crazy and looks so densely opaque after just one coat. It is a matte finish and literally does not budge when it is on. If I apply this over my Mac Brick lip pencil, it stays in place for hours. That is with drinking and eating! I'm completely in love!

Mac Paint Pots

I have a new obsession.....Mac Paint Pots. I love how you can use these alone or under eyeshadows to give a more intense finish. I have 3 at the moment....Bare Study, which is a soft beige with gold pearl, Quite Natural, a dirty chocolate brown and Blackground, Black-Grey with multi-colour.

These are creamy and once applied set to a powdery finish. Once they set they literally do not move on my lids. I can wear these alone or pop a shadow on top and they last on my lids all day without creasing!

You can apply a light coating or build up to a much more iuntense finish, using either a brush or your fingers. I also find that these look gorgeous when simply worn alone. I've been wearing Bare Study to work for the last 4 weeks....it's just so convenient to pop some on my finger, sweep over my lids and blend out. Takes seconds and looks lovely....evens out the colour of my eye lids and adds a slight sheen, making me look fresh and awake, just what is needed at 7am, when I feel exhausted!

Here is Quite Natural Paint Pot that I wore today. Again, on it's own, applied with a Mac 217 brush and blended out...up into the crease and also under my eyes. Such a beautiful colour, and again, very buildable, I like to wear it as a simple wash of colour which looks softer and not too heavy for the day time.

I can't wait to get my hands on some more.....I love them that much I can see my self collecting them all!

Mac Fix +

I finally got around to buying a bottle of Mac Fix + a couple of months ago. I was using the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray prior to getting this, but when it ran out I thought I would try the Mac Fix + for a change, and I'm so pleased I did!

Just in case you've been living underneath a rock and don't know what Fix + is.......

This has now become a daily staple that I cannot, and refuse to live without. I love everything about it. The packaging is great and sprays a lovely scented fine mist over the skin. It also locks when not in use which is a great feature as it ensures it doesn't accidentally spritz whilst being carried round in a bag for example. I mainly use the Fix + to set my make up after application. It simply injects some moisture back into my skin, softens my make up, taking away that powdery look, and basically leaves my skin looking bright, radiant and dewy. I sometimes spray my make up again half way through the day and it just freshens everything up in an instant, leaving my skin looking healthy and glowing. Once it dries, it doesn't feel at all sticky or heavy on my skin. The effect it gives lasts for hour upon hours, and my make up literally doesn't budge with this on!

I occasionally use the Fix + prior to applying my moisturiser, if I feel my skin needs a major moisture boost and it works wonders. The Fix + can also be used on eyeshadow brushes to apply pigments/loose shadows for better adhesion to the skin and to create a foiled/wet look. It really is a multi tasking product, and the bottle lasts for ages too so it's such good value for money.

I seriously wish I had tried this a lot sooner. I used to presume it was just an over hyped water spray! How wrong I was! I will always purchase this now.....I'm in love!

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser - Dry Sensitive Skin

This is my current morning cleanser.

Unlike it's title suggests, the foaming cleanser does not really foam up all that much, as you can see in the picture above. It only foams up a little, but that doesn't really matter to me as it's such a gorgeous product. I'm totally addicted to the scent, it smells so wonderful!

Using this each morning is a pleasure. It's very invigorating and soothing on my skin, and I find it helps to wake me up first thing! The cleanser contains shea butter so is great for dry skin. I find this very creamy and moisturising. It also rinses off very easily leaving my face feeling clean and refreshed. It's quite pricey at £17.00 for 125ml, but you only need to use such a small amount each time, that it will last ages. It's gorgeous.........I'm addicted and will definitely be repurchasing when I run out!

I'm really getting into Clarins at the moment......I'm very impressed with the quality of their products. Can't wait to discover more lovely products in the range!

Garnier Pure 3 In 1 Wash Scrub & Mask

I'm onto my second bottle of this stuff, and if something is worthy of a repurchase it is definitely worth a mention!

Garnier Pure 3 in 1 is a wash scrub & mask all in one product.

'' If you have oily or combination skin prone to imperfections and blackheads, Garnier's first 3 in 1 cleanser eliminates excess sebum, unclogs pores and evens skin tone for clearer skin that lasts.

Now I don't have oily skin, it is quite the opposite actually....dry as a bone springs to mind, but I do get hormonal breakouts on my chin and upper lip area and sometimes blackheads on my nose. I also suffer from flaky patches of skin if I don't exfoliate regularly, so a good face scrub is a daily essential for me.

I was using the Garnier Blackhead Clearing Scrub prior to finding this but the 3 in 1 scrub is way better in my opinion. It is grittier than the blackhead scrub so does a better job of exfoliating my skin. You can see the blue gritty bits in the picture above, which are effective but are in no way harsh on my skin.

Now the scrub contains salicylic acid, zinc and clay, which are usually not the best ingredients to use on dry skin. However, I don't find this scrub drying at all. The blackhead scrub was much more drying to my skin than this one, but I have never used this scrub as a mask. I only use a very small amount, scrub and rinse, so it may be a bit more drying to the skin if used this way. I have used this scrub each evening for the last 3 months and it has never dried out my skin, although I only use a pea size amount and always give my skin a good moisturise afterwards.

I find the scrub really refreshing and also love the cooling/tingling sensation it gives. It gets rid of any last traces of makeup and gives my face a thorough cleansing. It smells really good too...nice and fresh. My skin just feels amazing when I apply my moisturiser afterwards, so smooth and soft. My skin feels the best it has in a long time actually, and I can't believe it is due to a £5.99 scrub!

Since I started using using this I have hardly had a breakout, and if I have, it is literally an occasional zit. The scrub is doing a great job of keeping my pores clear and has never irritated my skin. I have a lot less blackheads now too. My complexion appears brighter and a hell of a lot clearer. I love this product!

I've worn this a couple of times now and I have to say, I'm very impressed. The Skin Tint is a light coverage foundation which in my opinion has slightly more coverage than a tinted moisturiser. The formulation is lovely and it does indeed glide effortlessly onto the skin. I have applied this with my fingers each time and have achieved a perfect finish this way. It leaves a beautiful dewy finish on the skin. You could leave it dewy or apply a light dusting of powder if you wish. I have done both and it looks lovely either way.

The best thing about this Skin Tint for me is the fact that it just looks like my skin but better. As it is a light coverage, it blends away imperfections without masking them completely. This achieves a much more natural result. It also wears really well and lasts a full 8 hours + on my skin. My other half even commented on how lovely my skin looks with this on! The only gripe I have with it and it's a minor one, is that it has very little scent. I would have loved for it to have been slightly scented like other products in the Liz Earle range. However, this is only personal preference and may not be to everyone's taste anyway. Overall it has definitely exceeded my expectations!

Carmex have introduced these Moisture Plus Lip Balms to their UK range! All £4.49 (available from Boots).

Carmex Moisture Plus is the first lip balm introduced by Carmex in more than 70 years and joins the popular Carmex family of lip products. The original Carmex was created in 1937 by Alfred Woelbing and his family in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA , who still run the business today.!

These lip balms are pleasantly scented....no where near as strong as the original Carmex, with a hint of vanilla. They are very glossy and glide on the lips so easily, leaving the lips with a tingling sensation which lasts only for a short while! The applicator is a perfect shape and enables you to achieve a precise application. The tinted ones are gorgeous and just leave a very subtle hint of colour on the lips. Peach is my favourite of the three!

I've been using these balms for the last couple of days and I can tell you that my lips are baby soft and smooth without a single dry area, so they perform extremely well! I find them extremely moisturising, and they leave my lips feel thoroughly hydrated and nourished. The fact that they are tinted and have an SPF 15 is an added bonus. I love the original Carmex lip balm, but I only tend to use it if my lips are sore as I can only tolerate the strong scent for a short time, otherwise it makes me feel nauseous. These balms are perfect for when lips are dry but not sore/cracked, or just to simply prevent dryness. I'm so pleased Carmex have introduced these to their existing range....I love them!

I gave in to the hype of this product and bought a tube a few weeks ago. So I can now give you my thoughts on this cult beauty product.

To use you simply apply a small amount to the palm of your hands, swipe together and swiftly smooth over the face in a few small sweeping movements. The trick is to apply only a thin layer and not to rub it in as you will risk the product breaking up. You want it to literally sit on top of the skin. Foundation should then be applied immediately, whilst the Beauty Balm is still damp.

You can see in the picture above that it does leave the skin looking dewy, glowing with a fresh appearance.

I find this product super easy to use, and it has a pleasant floral fragrance. Immediately after using I can see a difference in the appearance of my skin. It does appear brighter and glowing. Please do not think though that it will make fine lines simply vanish, as it most definitely does not. I didn't notice any difference with my fine lines to be honest. It does however, give my skin a a moisture boost, and makes my skin appear more rested as promised. Tightening action? Nope, not for me anyway.

Overall, I think it is a lovely product to use and gives my skin a nice glow. Is it worth all the hype? Probably not to be honest and I'm not sure it's not really worthy of a £27.50 price tag either! Yes it does give me a brighter complexion but I won't be repurchasing when I run out, as I'm sure I can achieve exactly the same thing with cheaper priced radiance booster on the market.

Elizabeth Arden Sueded Browns Eyeshadow Quad

Here is Elizabeth Arden's Color Intrigue Centenary Eyeshadow Quad in Sueded Browns. I bought this back in April/May when they were half price. I think I paid around £12.50 for it in John Lewis. They actually didn't have these out on display when I asked for it, but found some underneath the counter, so I felt super lucky! I reckon they probably still have some palettes left lurking underneath the counters, if anyone wants to try and get one? I have the Velvet Plumtones Quad too which I absolutely adore! (see post here) The shadows are amazing quality, buttery soft and apply and blend like a dream!

I meant to publish this post back in April/May but I've been such a bad lazy blogger that I've only just got around to doing it now! *hangs head in shame*

Birthday treats!

It was my birthday recently, and I came downstairs early morning to discover these gorgeously wrapped presents on the mantelpiece!

The Paris paper was so beautiful that it took me a while to bring myself to open them!

No make up items here, instead I got an Amazon Kindle and a new wallet.

I also got this lovely case for my kindle which I love......

You know....I used to stick my nose up at the Kindle. I thought I would hate not being able to feel a book in my hand, turning the pages etc. How wrong I was! It is such an amazing piece of equipment, storing up to 3500 books. It downloads a book in seconds too, so no more waiting for books to arrive. I've read a couple of books on it so far and it is so light and comfortable to hold. You soon forget that you are reading on a Kindle, when you get lost in a story! It's simply fantastic!

My other wallet bit the dust, and was falling to bits so I was pleased to get this. I much prefer a mans wallet to a purse (yes, I'm weird). I wouldn't want or need a bigger one. It's a lovely quality wallet and I think the lining is adorable!

Is anyone else loving the Kindle like I am?

Max Factor Xperience Foundation

This was a chance discovery for me. I was in Boots buying something else about a month or so ago, and I decided to peruse the Max Factor Counter. This foundation was on offer (around £7.00) so I decided to give it a go. I matched myself up to Brown Hessian (75) which is a pretty spot on match for my skin tone.

Max Factor say:-

''Beautiful flawless skin – doesn't that mean a thick, full coverage foundation? Not with our new Xperience Weightless Foundation. Its formula contains natural jojoba extract, gives flawless coverage with a surprisingly air - light feel.''

I'm amazed by how good this foundation actually is. I was never expecting to love it as much as I do! I wouldn't say this foundation is full coverage. It is definitely more light - medium coverage in my opinion. It does however, feel light on my skin and never appears heavy or cakey. It's a lovely consistency, in no way thick nor too thin, just somewhere in between. I apply this foundation with my fingers and always achieve a flawless application every time. Once I have applied my Mineralize Skinfinish Natural and my Fix + afterwards, it doesn't look like I'm wearing any foundation, even in a magnifying mirror!

The Brown Hessian shade suits my skin with or without my fake tan on. It seems to adapt to my skin tone which is great, as I don't need to buy 2 different shades. Longevity is amazing too. Lasting a full working day and beyond. However, please bear in mind, I have dry skin, so I don't know how this foundation performs on oily skin types, it is a water based foundation though, so may be suitable. Although it's not that attractive to the eye, I'm really loving the squeezy tube too....so easy to apply with zero mess! It also has a SPF 10 which is great.

For a cheap foundation, it really feels quite high end to me! I think it's excellent value for money (usually £9.99) and I wouldn't hesitate to repurchase when I run out.

Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil

Here is a new discovery of mine....Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil.

I'm a huge fan of using treatment oils on the face. With one of my favourite's being Rosehip oil, which I have used for many years. My sister recommended I try the Clarin's Orchid Oil, so I bought a bottle a couple of months ago.

Blue Orchid Oil is an intense treatment for dehydrated skin. If your skin type isn't dehydrated then this oil probably isn't for you. However, Clarin's also do Santal Oil for dry/extra dry skin and Lotus Oil for combination/oily skin types.

This product can only be described as luxurious, and is quite simply...gorgeous! The scent of the oil is absolutely divine. The combination of the oils together.... smell like chocolate orange!

I've been applying this at night mainly, before bed after cleansing. I use a very small amount...warm it in the palms of my hands and then gently pat it onto my skin. I find it incredibly soothing and comforting, and it makes my skin feel really soft and smooth. It is very gentle, has never broken me out and does a fabulous job of re-hydrating my skin. My skin has a lovely glow after using this! It hasn't replaced my Rosehip oil as I'm still using that in the morning, but I'm really enjoying using this every evening, and I would definitely repurchase when I eventually run out!

The oil is quite pricey...at £33 for 40ml. But It lasts a very long time, so is a good investment in my opinion. Has anyone tried any of the Clarins Face Treatment Oils? What do you think?

Parissa Salon Warm Wax and Express Wax Strips

Here are Parissa Salon Warm Wax Strips (£12.99) and Express Wax Strips (£8.99) that I tried out a few months ago, which can be purchased from Sainsbury's and Boots in the UK.

Parissa Warm Wax is a natural hair removal system. It includes 120ml wax, 20 strips, 3 spatulas and 8ml Azulene oil.

To use the wax, simply heat up in the microwave, on a plate after removing the cap and seal, for 1-2 minutes and stir. Then use the end of the spatula to spread a thin layer of wax in the same direction as hair growth. Apply strip over the waxed area and rub well to ensure it is well stuck. Hold skin taut underneath the strip, and using the other hand to grip the end of the strip and rip off quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth. The same strip can actually be used a few times so the strips last longer! You can then remove any wax residue left on the skin with the Azulene oil.

I think this product is great quality and does exactly what it is designed to do, at a salon quality level. I have to warn you though....it is a messy process! The wax is sticky and and a lot of care and consideration is needed to ensure it doesn't go everywhere!. It is also important to remember that wax does not wash off. So ensure you are not waxing your legs on your best carpet! I did mine in my kitchen on the tiled floor to prevent any wax disasters! The wax was also really easy to remove with the oil provided, although I did find that the amount of oil provided was on the small side. But I find that baby oil works just as well to remove the wax so it wasn't a problem.

I really like this kit. It removed all the hairs on my legs quickly and easily and left them feeling baby smooth. You get loads of wax in the tub too so it lasts a good while!

Parissa Express wax strips is ready to use hair removal system, that is quick to use and mess free. Included in the kit are 16 (8 x 2 sided) strips and 8ml of Azulene oil.

These are super easy to use, as you simply have to warm the strip up by rubbing between your hands. Then press on to the skin smoothing down in the direction of hair growth. Then whip off immediately in the opposite direction of hair growth. The same strip can be used several times. These can be used on the underarms, bikini line and upper lip.

I use these on my upper lip and they are excellent. I have used cold wax strips before and none of them have come close to being as good as these ones. These are so convenient and remove the hair pain free, quickly and easily. I find that there is less residue left with these strips than with cheaper alternatives. Here are a few hair products I've been trying out lately.

KLORANE Nourishing Treatment Shampoo (£6.00) and KLORANE conditioner with mango butter (£6.00).

For anyone that doesn't know, KLORANE was originally founded by a young pharmacist, Pierre Fabre and is part of the Pierre Fabre Group; one of the largest privately owned pharmaceutical companies in France. Pierre Fabre created the very first plant-based shampoo -- Shampoo with chamomile -- for blond hair. The KLORANE brand is now one of the most sold hair care brands in European pharmacies.

''Mango is traditionally used for its nourishing properties. We selected a special type of mango grown exclusively in India, because it is very rich in essential fatty acids with scientifically proven nourishing and restorative properties. From the kernel of the mango, we extract a butter that restructures and repairs dry, damaged hair – protecting it from dehydration.''

Both the shampoo and conditioner are really nice for dry hair. They have a subtle scent of mango which I'm not that keen on (I much prefer floral scents to fruity ones), but the quality of both products is great. They are very creamy in consistency, and do a fab job of injecting some moisture into my very dry hair. After washing my hair with these, it is so soft and manageable. It isn't cheap but it is much better quality than some of the cheaper shampoo and conditioners on the market.

Sexy Hair Reinvent Color Care Topcoat (£13.99)

''Useful for dull, damaged and color-treated hair, Top Coat can be used as a weekly treatment or whenever hair color needs to be revitalized. After shampooing and conditioning hair, squeeze out excess water and then simply apply a generous amount of Top Coat evenly from scalp to ends.''

I'm not completely sold on this product to be honest. I was expecting my hair to look healthy and shiny after using it, but I've used it a few times now and haven't really noticed any difference. My hair actually felt a bit drier than usual too. There must be something in the ingredients that just doesn't agree with my hair. It's a shame really, as I've read some very positive reviews on this product, but I guess what works for one person isn't necessarily going to work for another. This just isn't moisturising enough for my hair unfortunately.

Sorry that I have been AWOL for a while! I have had some things going on in my personal life that have pretty much taken up all my spare time! I'm back on track now though, so I intend to update my blog much more often. I have so much to blog about and not enough time to fit it all in! I could seriously do with a few more hours in my day!

Let me introduce you to my all time favourite body moisturiser.....Hawaiian Tropic body Butter Exotic Coconut!

They are certainly right when they say, you won't want to use anything else, because I definitely don't! I have been using this now for a long, long time. I don't care that it is marketed as an 'After Sun'.....It is hands down...the best body moisturiser I have used and smells absolutely divine.....of beautiful coconut! Coconut is one of my favourite scents and I can't seem to get enough of it lately! I'm on a coconut kick and constantly trying to hunt down more yummy coconut scented products. If you have any recommendations...please let me know?

The body butter is a nice thick consistency that thoroughly moisturises without ever feeling greasy or heavy in any way. It sinkes into my skin quickly and easily and is completely non sticky. It just smells sooo good. If you love the scent of coconut than this is a must have. The scent lingers on my skin for hours after applying this.....it is quite simply summer in a tub! I seriously could not love it anymore than I do!

They have recently repackaged this, as it used to be in a pink tub, but it still the same gorgeous product, that I will never be without. It is quite pricey at £9.18 for 200ml, but you can pick this up quite often on offer half price, and it can sometimes be found in Home Bargains and Wilko's for £4.99. I always stock up when I see it on offer, because I would hate to be without it....I'd honestly feel like I'd lost a limb....I haven't been without a pot for the last 2 years!

I popped a bottle of this into the trolley whilst in the supermarket the other day, much to the delight of my children who fell in love with the bottle! ''Ahh, when I was little, I used to bath with this too!'' I told them.

Later that evening I started running a bath for my them, unscrewed the lid and took a huge nostalgic whiff of my beloved Matey. I was hoping to be transported immediately back to my childhood through the power of scent, but instead was greeted by a rather boring, nondescript aroma which quite frankly does not resemble the original Matey whatsoever!

When did you change the scent of this and why?

Aside from the fact that Matey produces an amazing amount of bubbles (which it still does, thankfully), one of the best things about it was it's scent........ the scent of many British childhoods, not just my own. After all... it's been around since 1958....Over 50 years! Why change it now?

I also saw the pink Matey bottle whilst shopping the other day too, and was again saddened to discover, it smells fruity! Yuck! I find it such a shame that companies feel the need to change things.

So depressing......... the end of an era!

Please change it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Little Bobbi Brown haul

I'm really getting into Bobbi Brown products lately. I so often veer towards other brands instead, such as Mac and I have no idea why? All of the Bobbi Brown products I've tried so far have been phenomenal and have more than exceeded my expectations.

I recently purchased Boobi Brown Peony Blush and Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Espresso Ink. I already own and love Caviar Ink but I've been craving a more softer brown eyeliner for daytime.

Bobbi Brown Peony Blush

I fell in love with this blush as soon as I swatched it at the counter. It's a beautiful bright pink that looks great against my skin tone. At first, I wasn't sure whether to go for 'Peony' or 'Pale Pink'. There isn't that much difference between them really, apart from Peony appears slightly warmer, whilst Pale pink is cooler.

After much deliberation, I finally settled on peony and I'm so pleased I did. It gives the most amazing healthy flush! It is highly pigmented though and I've found that only such a tiny amount is needed. It's very easy to apply too much so a very light hand is required. Less is more, and you can build up slowly until the desired effect is achieved. You know you're on to a winner when you get a comment from your other half, who said I looked gorgeous and glowing when I first wore this!

Also, the longevity of this blush is incredible, and lasts quite literally all day on my skin!

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, Espresso Ink

The Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Espresso Ink is a lovely rich dark brown colour. I absolutely love Bobbi's Gel eyeliners and will buy again and again. It is the best gel eyeliner formulation I have tried as yet, and has never let me down. I usually apply this with my Sigma 109, or my Jemma Kidd eyeliner brush and it applies smoothly and evenly every time. Once applied it literally sets solid and does not move or smudge. It lasts all day on my lids. Love it!

Here I am wearing the Peony blush and Espresso ink eyeliner.......

After trying these I will definitely be buying more blushers and gel eyeliners from the range. I'm also intrigued with the Bobbi Brown skin care range, which no doubt I'll be trying out soon!

Dry Skin Saviour....Lush Razorantium

Thank you to my Mother for introducing me to this wonderful product. Here is Lush Razorantium 'Tough love for beards'. A thick shaving cream for stubborn stubble and furry beards that need to be dealt with. This was originally in Lush's regular line but they have since made it a Retro product.

Sorry to disappoint ladies, but no, I don't use this on my beard! I do use it on my face though, but rather as a moisturiser instead. I have discovered that it is perfect for my dry/dehydrated skin.

Ingredients:-

Linseed Mucilage (Linum usitatissimum), Orange Blossom Water (Citrus Aurantium dulcis), Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis), Glycerine, Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Stearic Acid, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera), Cetearyl Alcohol, Beeswax (Cera alba), Sweet Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis), Vetivert Oil (Vetiveria zizanoides), Triethanolamine, *Limonene, Perfume, Methylparaben, Propylparaben. * Occurs naturally in essential oils Vegetarian

It is a wonderfully rich cream that is quite thick in consistency. It has a slightly strange scent which could be the combination of orange/vetivert but soon fades once applied. It is lovely and soothing on application and sinks in after a couple of minutes, leaving my skin feeling beautifully soft and smooth. I've been using this as a night cream after cleansing/applying facial oil. It is perfect for this purpose.

Although not it's original intended use, it is an amazing cream for dry skin in my opinion. My skin feels softer, more supple and hydrated without any flaky patches since I started using this a few weeks ago. I saw results from the first use. It is very gentle and has never irritated my skin, nor broken me out. I just wish I had discovered this a lot sooner. Great value for money too as you get 225g for £9.45, so it will last such a long time!

If you suffer from really dry/flaky skin like me, then it could be worth your while giving this product a try!

Calvin Klein Make Up Brushes

I bought these Calvin Klein (CK) Make up brushes a while back from Direct Cosmetics. I originally just bought one. The Small powder brush, but once I held it in my hand and realised how amazing the quality was, I went back on-line and ordered more. I now have 13 in total.

These are seriously gorgeous brushes. They are incredibly soft and are made to a very high standard. I love everything about them....the build, the bristles and the fact that they don't shed! They are all fabulous and work exactly as they should. The shading/contouring brushes pick up and blend my eyeshadows extremely well. I also love the powder brushes....the cheek brush is one of the best I have ever used. It applies my blusher flawlessly every time. They are simply gorgeous and such a pleasure to use!

If anyone is looking for quality brushes on a budget then these are definitely for you! They are so cheap on the Direct Cosmetics website at the moment. Ranging from £3.29 - £7.99 per brush! I picked up all 13 brushes for around £50 (approx)! Such a bargain!

I'm going to purchase a few more while they are still available!

Bourjois Volumizer Mascara

I picked up this the other day. I was suckered in to the illusion of achieving 11x the volume of my own lashes!

What Bourjois say:-

What do I think?

Well I'm not that impressed to be honest. Step one gave me a tiny bit more volume and length. I liked the brush on step 1, but the step 2 brush was clump city. I literally had to wipe 90% of it off the brush before I could put it anywhere near my lashes. The result is not that impressive either. The Step 2 picture above shows the best I can do without it beginning to clump. This is after one light coating. Once I try to apply more than this it looks atrocious....a big clumpy mess. I don't know where the 11x more volume promise comes from, perhaps they mistook volume for clumps? You would most certainly achieve 11x more clumps than with a rival brand for sure!

So to sum up.....it's a definite disappointment. If anyone is thinking of buying this, I wouldn't bother. There are way better Mascaras than this in the same price range or cheaper. It's not worth the £10.49 price tag in my opinion.

I've noticed that Rimmel have introduced a similar one to their line, a Day 2 Night Mascara that promises 15x fuller lashes! I wonder if that one is any better?

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant

Eight Hour cream has so many uses and is a favourite of make up artists. It can be used to protect skin from the elements, wind, sun, central heating, air conditioning etc. It can be used on hands, nails, cuticles, and can calm down irritated skin, eg, after waxing/shaving. It can be used as a lip balm or as a gloss over lipstick. It also tames unruly eyebrows, and can be used as a natural highlighter, providing a subtle sheen without any shimmer, for cheeks, eyelids etc.

This product has a somewhat strange scent that I'm sure may put people off. It has a strong medicinal smell, that I actually rather like. It's strangely addictive once you get used to it! It is quite sticky in texture, but I find the balm extremely moisturising, and perfect for those rough areas of skin such as, elbows, knees, hands etc.....it softens them up a treat. I personally wouldn't apply this all over my face as it would be too sticky and greasy. However, I have applied it to problem areas on my face, such as chapped/flaky, eczema patches etc as an overnight treatment, which works tremendously well.

This is a firm favourite of mine that travels around with me in my handbag. I use it on my lips mainly but I also use it for to highlight my cheeks. It just gives such an amazing healthy natural and subtle glow. I've also used this on my children when they have a graze/scratches etc on their skin and it helps to soothe and protect whilst healing. It really is an amazing multi purpose product. I would not be without this now.....I use it every single day!

Here it is being used as a highlight. It is much more subtle in the flesh, the flash has made it look more obvious than it really is.

My hair has been so dry lately after lifting the colour a couple of months ago. I'm kind of regretting it now, as I've since dyed it dark again. I much prefer it darker...I just didn't feel myself with light brown hair. So the whole episode was a bit pointless really, but never mind....you live and learn!

I was on the hunt a couple of weeks ago for a deep conditioning treatment, and whilst perusing the shelves in Holland and Barrett (originally went in for coconut oil), I spotted this little gem........

This stuff is wonderful! I squeeze a bit of oil out of the bottle into the palm of my hand, and then apply to the mid lengths, and ends of my hair when it is dry. I then either leave it on overnight or just for an hour or two prior to washing it (depending on my schedule/mood).

The oil smells predominantly of oranges and it is so yummy! Only a small amount of oil is needed each time I apply this. When my hair is saturated in the oil. I just simply tie it up and let it work it's magic. The oil washes out very easily when I shampoo it and never feels greasy or weighed down. My hair is left so much more manageable after using this. It not only gives my hair a moisture boost, but also tames down frizz that my fine hair is prone to.

I've been using this oil on my hair for a couple of weeks now, and I can really see a definite improvement in its condition. It has injected some much needed moisture into it, and my hair now has a lovely shine, that it lacked before. Each time I use it I see a bit more improvement, and my hair is getting stronger and healthier with each use. To think that I nearly had second thoughts and put this oil back on the shelf....so glad I didn't now! I also add this to my bath water, and use it on my skin and nails. I sometimes apply this to my my damp skin following a nice hot bath too, and it's a wonderful moisturiser.

If anyone is having a dry hair problem like me, then I highly recommend this oil to you. It's also really good value, as you get a whopping 237ml for £10.79. Only a little oil is needed each use so this bottle should last a few months.

Here is New CID Cosmetics I-Blush Light Up Blusher & Highlighter Compact.

The i - blush compact has a split pan, one half is a warm pink blush while the other is a golden highlighter. This powder compact also has a mirror and lights up which is so cute!

This is such a pretty blush, that can either be used alone or with the highlighter. It is very pigmented and really packs a punch, so this must be applied with a light hand. The effect it gives is gorgeous and lasts all day on my skin. It's such a lovely colour, and gives me a beautiful healthy glow!

I'm very excited this week as I received the brand new Boots Smooth Skin Plus by iPulse!

The new Boots Smooth Skin Plus uses intense pulsed light (IPL) technology and is clinically proven to provide a hair removal system that's simple and easy to use. If used correctly will provide permanent hair reduction. It works by directing an extremely short, intense pulse of filtered light into the skin. The light is absorbed by the coloured pigments in and surrounding the hair and disables the hair folicle preventing hair re-growth.

This Boots Smooth Skin Plus also has a new electronic sensor for accurate skin tone measurement, comes with 20,000 flashes for greater coverage (previous Smooth Skin device had 10.000). Has a 30% faster treatment time, and is suitable for the body and face.

Please note, Boots Smooth Skin Plus is not suitable for everyone. It is only suitable for 4 skin tones(pictured above). Darker skin tones absorb too much light during treatment which may cause serious skin injury.

The Smooth Skin Plus comes with an electronic skin tone sensor and will assist you in choosing the right skin type setting.

You simply place the sensor on the area of skin you wish to treat (making sure the area is shaved first), and press and hold the operation button. The sensor will detect how much melanin there is in your skin to determine skin tone. After the measurement has been made, you will see either a green light next to symbols 1-4. If the device shows up red on settings 5-6 then this area will not be suitable for treatment.

The Boots Smooth Skin Plus is also not effective on red or grey/white hair, and may be less effective if you suffer from Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome (PCOS).

My first impressions of the new Smooth Skin Plus are very positive. Clearly, a lot of thought has gone into the design/build, as it seem a lot more streamlined and user friendly.

I think the new skin tone sensor is fabulous as it doesn't leave the user guessing when they may be in between shades identified on the chart, and gives a clear indication if the users skin tone is not suitable for treatment.

I love the new shape of the handset and find it very comfortable to hold/use, and appears that the new shape will make it easier to get into awkward areas, such as the centre of the underarm.

The machine is extremely versatile and can be used on the legs, underarms, bikini line, body and the face and neck (except for eyebrows, nostrils, scalp). The instructions for use that come with device are very in depth, and give clear instructions on how to treat each area.

The Smooth Skin Plus is also suitable for use by men who want to use the device on their unwanted hair. However, caution should be taken into the beard area. Complete removal of the male beard is not usually advisable, as it will produce changes in facial characteristics, that can lead to a more feminine appearance. Eeeek! If you are a man contemplating using this device to get rid of your whole beard, please don't! I know shaving is a pain in the ass, but in my opinion, having stubble on the face is part of being a man, and women love it.

I also love the fact that this version has a 30% faster treatment time. Giving results in just 6-12 treatments! The Smooth Skin Plus retails at £399 and is available from Boots.

If anyone followed my journey with the original Boots Smooth Skin, you will know that I treated my underarms. This time I will treat my legs and upper lip and will give regular updates as to how the device is working for me. Can't wait to get started!

Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation

Here is Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation that I bought a few weeks ago.

Mac say:

''A creamy, luxurious, gel-based foundation that provides medium buildable to high coverage with a natural satin finish. Hydrating, instantly revitalizes the skin while keeping it looking smooth, soft and plush. Long-wearing, water-resistant''.

I matched myself to NC25. I am normally an NC25-NC30 with my fake tan on and NC20 without. I find that the Studio Sculpt shades run lighter than the other Mac foundations, and so I can only wear this when my fake tan is wearing off. So I would bear this in mind if you are thinking of trying it, and buy a shade darker than usual.

What do I think?

I'm having a bit of a love/hate relationship with this foundation to be honest. I love the finished effect it gives but I find it very strange and sometimes difficult to work with. The consistency is a tad weird...somewhere between a cream and a gel. You literally only need to use a pea sized amount (see pic above), which will cover the entire face. It also has a really odd scent that I'm not that keen on.....a sweet alcoholic smell.....like sherry!

To apply the foundation I have to use a stippling brush. A foundation brush doesn't work (streaks) and neither does using fingers (uses too much product). I dip the stippling brush into the Studio Sculpt and then dot it evenly around my face. I then begin to work the foundation into the skin in circular motions. You have to work very fast otherwise it will set leaving you no choice but to apply more. When I have worked the foundation into the skin I then check in the mirror to see if it looks even. More often than not, in some areas, the foundation appears to be sitting on top of the skin and doesn't appear to be blended in properly.

After discovering this, the first time I used the foundation, I was horrified! I really thought it was crap and was immediately thinking of throwing it away. However, after a few minutes, I had another look in the mirror and was pleasantly surprised. The look of the foundation had changed. It now looked good, blended and even! I'm not sure why this happens...maybe the heat from my face sorts it out. It's really strange though and also quite annoying! Does this happen to anyone else? I'd love to know!

On a plus note, I really love the squeezy tube....super easy to use, and because it is nice and slim, doesn't take up much room in your make up bag/drawer. I would say this foundation is a medium coverage. It is most certainly a satin finish and is definitely neither dewy or matte. Longevity is really good on my dry skin and easily lasts out a full working day

Here it is in action.......

I really do love how it looks on my skin and I'll definitely be using it up. This I predict will take quite some time, as such a small amount is required for each application. With this in mind it is really quite good value for money considering you get 40ml of product.... it will definitely last a few months!

I don't think though, at this stage, I will be repurchasing when it does eventually run out. There are other foundations that I much prefer over this one.

This shower gel is heavily scented with essential oils and smells so good! It is quite strong and almost a bit spicy, so might not be to everyone's tastes, but I love it. It's a nice consistency too, neither too thick or too thin. I do find that it doesn't foam up that much though, but it doesn't really matter to me, I still feel lovely and clean afterwards, regardless. The scent lingers on my skin for quite a while after bathing and it has never dried my skin out.

If you're a fan of essential oils like I am, then I think you would like this shower gel. There are also 3 other scents in the range....the 'Relaxing' one sounds gorgeous, a lavender scent!

How I Currently Control My Breakouts

I hate hormonal breakouts. They are such a pain in the ass.......I detest them with a passion! But unfortunately, there does not seem to be a single thing that I can do to stop them occurring. Once a month, regularly as clockwork in the week running up to the arrival of Aunt Flo, my chin erupts. Sometimes I'm lucky and just get the one spot, but if unlucky, will get quite a few. It's completely out of my control! Grrrrrrr

I was very blessed during my teenage years, and did not suffer from acne at all. The most I had was the occasional pimple. I get more spots now than I ever did back then.....bloody hormones! The joys of being a female!

So as soon as a zit decides to rear it's ugly little head on my chin, or the surrounding areas, I dig my spot busting products out.

These 3 products really do help to get rid of my spots quickly. Garnier PureActive Blackhead Clearing Scrub, Neautrogena Visibly Clear Cleansing Lotion and Oxy On The Spot Benzoyl Peroxide Cream.

''Garnier PureActive Blackhead Clearing Scrub's creamy formula delivers an instant double action to help fight spots and fade marks. The concentrated formula, with exfoliating micro-beads and a well known ingredient, Salicylic Acid, helps clear blackheads and fight the appearance of spots''.

This I find excellent, but is extremely drying to the skin. When I first bought this I was using this all over my face, bad idea! The scrub contains 2% salicylic acid, and as my skin is already dry, rubbing this all over it just made it dry, tight, flaky and sore. I've learned my lesson, and now, as soon as any spots show up, I still use this daily, but only where the spots are prevalent. So if they are on my chin...that is the only place I will use it. It has beads in it that gently exfoliate and give the skin a deep clean. Also gives a refreshing tingly feeling on the face - due to the mint in the ingredients. I really love the smell of it too. It is very powerful stuff that may irritate more sensitive skins, but I think it's amazing when used with caution.

''Neutrogena Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminating Cleansing Lotion's formula reaches deep down to remove dirt and oil trapped in your pores - the impurities that can lead to blackheads. It contains a powerful blackhead - fighting ingredient that helps eliminate and prevent blackheads. Skin is left visibly cleaner and clearer''.

Jeez, this stuff is lethal with a capital L but it works. I would never, under any circumstances apply this all over my face, as it is extremely drying/irritating to my skin. Like the Garnier Blackhead Scrub, this product also contains salicylic acid along with alcohol so it can sting a bit on application. Especially if you have recently squeezed any spots! I apply this morning and night when having a breakout. I apply this to my spots (only) with a cotton wool ball. I will then apply my regular skin care to the rest of my face as normal.

I pretty much ignore the fact it states for Blackheads, as this works on other spots just as well too. When I read the ingredients list in the 'acne' aisle at Boots on various different products, the ingredients all seemed practically the same! The salicylic acid content did vary though...and I chose products with a high content in the hope I could get rid of my spots faster. It really does too!

After washing with the Garnier Blackhead Scrub and applying the Neutrogena Cleansing Lotion, I then apply a layer of Oxy On the Spot Benzoyl Peroxide Cream.

''The active ingredient, benzoyl peroxide, gets to work by dissolving keratin, helping to remove layers of dead skin which block pores. It also has antibacterial activity against P. acnes, the bacterium which can cause spots,helping to prevent against future breakouts''.

I apply this again, only to the areas that it is needed, as it is also pretty powerful! I would describe it as 'lethal but effective', which I think pretty much sums up all 3 of these products. I find that using them all in combination really helps to dry up and shrink my spots fast. I can see a difference literally overnight after using these together. Within around 3 days my spots have shrivelled up and gone away. So although, I'm not always thrilled to use these products, I'm always relieved to see the results!

This product does exactly what it says...gives a nice even glow to the face. It's so easy to apply, I do this with my fingers and when finished, the lotion sets and won't come off unless washed in soap and water. I apply to my face, neck and décolletage, and it always looks really natural. Perfect for those days you just want to top up your tan when it's wearing off, or for enhancing an existing tan. Such a great price too for 50ml product!

Here is Elemis Freshskin Softly Softly Daily Moisturiser and Freshskin Face Mask Duo from the range that I was sent for consideration.

Now I don't fall into the 16-24 year old age range (I wish!) but I can still give you my opinion. Softly Softly Moisturiser is a lightweight, non sticky, non greasy moisturiser, that feels lovely on the skin. It smells wonderful (of essential oils) without being overpowering and sinks into the skin easily, making a lovely base for make up. This cream is perfect for younger skins in my opinion as it feels gentle, light, moisturising and refreshing. All the skin really needs in this age bracket.

The Deep Clean Face Mask is a clay based mask, that helps to draw out impurities from the skin. You simply apply to skin, leave on for 10 minutes and then rinse. It smells gorgeous...as all Elemis products do, and feels really refreshing and cooling when applied to the skin. I did find that the mask became tight as it was drying. It was a strange sensation but not at all unpleasant. I then rinsed and used a muslin cloth to ensure I'd removed every trace of mask. My skin felt lovely afterwards, very clean, soft and smooth.

The Magical Moisture Quenching face mask gives skin a real moisture boost. You apply it in exactly the same way as the Deep Clean mask and rinse after 10 minutes. It is a very rich/thick product, that feels refreshing when applied to the face. The scent is lovely too. I found this mask to be very hydrating and left my skin feeling super soft, smooth and visibly radiant afterwards.

I cannot fault the products I was sent from the new Freshskin range. I think they are fabulous and are perfect for the market that they are aimed at - teens to twenties. The only thing I'm a bit unsure about is the cost, as I'm not sure there will be many teenagers that can afford to fund such luxury brand skin care products on a regular basis (I know I couldn't at that age). Maybe their parents would buy for them though?

Elizabeth Arden Velvet Plumtones Centenary Quad

I grabbed this in John Lewis when I discovered it was half price. It is the Elizabeth Arden Limited Edition Centenary Eyeshadow Quad that came out last Autumn. Don't quote me on it, but I think that there were 3 different Color Intrigue Quads to choose from at the time. I bought the Velvet Plumtones one.

I think the packaging is beautiful!

The swatches above are very true to colour. They are truly stunning and have a slight iridescence to them, but are not shimmery/glittery at all. The quality is awesome, such pigmented colours that last on my eyes all day over a primer. The Velvet Plumtones shades look amazing next to my green eyes, and really make them stand out! I'm so pleased I bought this...and at half price you can't really go wrong!

Here I am wearing the eyeshadows from the palette. I haven't stopped using it since I bought it.....my other eyeshadows are getting jealous!.......

I think I will go back and get one of the other quads before they sell out. I know they still had some left. Think it may have been the Sueded Browns. Will have to go and investigate!

St Moriz Dark Instant Self Tanning Mousse

I was stopped dead in my tracks when I noticed that there is now a St Moriz Dark available! I'm a massive fan of the original St Moriz and have been using it for the last couple of years. It is, in my opinion just as good as more expensive brands and it only costs a few quid. I am never without a bottle and always have a few back ups in my drawer.

St Moriz Dark, is just like the original mousse but a lot deeper in colour.

If I'm being completely honest here, I was absolutely petrified when I first started applying this as the guide colour was so dark, and was worried I'd end up looking orange. So not a good look!

I applied it in exactly the same way I apply the original and it, and I didn't notice any difference between the two. It behaved in the same way and took the same length of time to dry. It was super easy and really fast. That's what I love about St Moriz......you can literally just slap it on and not worry about it.

Why does someone always ring the bloody doorbell when you look like crap? That's what happened to me around 2 hours into the development time! I was wearing scruffy clothes, no bra underneath my top, hair not brushed. I wouldn't have answered it, but my son did. Such an embarrassing, cringe worthy moment!

After a lovely hot bath....here is the finished result. I'm not wearing make up in the picture to show you the true colour of the tan.....

I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it would take me a lot darker than it did. It always amazes me how different St Moriz looks on other people. Looking at pictures online.....most people seem to go a lot darker than I do. It must react with my skin differently, and most of it washes down the plug hole to be honest. It definitely has gone a bit deeper than the original St Moriz takes me though, and I'm really happy with the results.

The colour did grab a bit too much around my knees, elbows ect, but it was easily sorted out with a scrub in the bath. The final result is a really natural looking tan. I don't think I'm ready to give up the original version just yet though, I love it way too much, but this will be perfect for nights out etc.

Here are the products that I am currently using for my skin care regime. I also have a few other products that I use when I'm having a hormonal breakout, but I think I will cover those in a separate post.

Huggies Pure Baby Wipes

I take my make up off each night with these wipes. They are great and do the job perfectly. I don't see the point in buying wipes specifically for the face when these do exactly the same job. They are also bigger/thicker than facial wipes so are much easier to use. I really like the ones in the beige packaging - the scent is lovely. I am never without these, they are a staple! I will also use baby oil on a cotton pad to remove all traces of mascara. I've tried quite a few eye make up removers but nothing seems to beat, plain and simple baby oil...so I always end up coming back to it, It's also dirt cheap which is a bonus!

Organic Surge Daily Care Face Wash

After removing make up...this is my next step. I'm so pleased I discovered this face wash. It is packed full of essential oils, natural ingredients and smells amazing. Contains Rose Geranium, Frankincense, Aloe Vera and Vitamin E and is incredibly gentle on the skin. It mildly foams on application and feels really moisturising and refreshing, and most importantly never feels drying. I use this morning and night and I highly recommend to all. I also use a muslin cloth with this to unsure all my dead skin is removed, this works a treat and keeps my skin flake free.

Trilogy Rosehip Oil

I then apply 2 drops of Rosehip oil to my face (morning) and 3-4 drops (evening). I have been using Rosehip for 10 years, so application of this has become somewhat of a ritual for me. This oil has so many benefits (that I won't go into here) and I absolutely adore it. I have a whole post dedicated to this wonderful oil so click here, if you would like to learn more. I will never, ever be without this. It is a 'must have' for me.

Boots No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Serum

I've been applying this morning and evening for the last 7 weeks. I bought it as I've always been intrigued as to whether or not it lives up to its claims of visibly reducing fine lines in 4 weeks. It is a lovely product to use. feels so silky on application and glides over the skin beautifully. Feels very luxurious and gives my skin a visible boost, leaving it looking glowing and healthy. As for the reduction in fine lines....I can't say I've noticed that much difference so far. Maybe it takes longer than 4 weeks in the long run to make a difference? Or maybe it is just hype? Although I will be using the product up, I won't be in a rush to repurchase.

Good Skin Labs: EXTEN-10 Instant Youth Boosting Moisturizer

This has been my moisturiser for the last 2 months and I really like it. Good Skin Labs claim the cream helps to smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles, improves skin texture and skin appears firmer and more radiant. It states on the box...In 4 weeks: look 10.4 years younger! Mmmmm, I don't think I look 10 years younger but I do agree with the instantly see an improvement in radiance and moisturisation part. It is a lovely cream that is just the right consistency, not too thick or too thin. It takes a few minutes to soak into the skin but eventually matts down and makes an excellent base for make up. The ingredients list is immense and also contains an SPF 15. To read more about EXTEN-10 click here. I find this cream to be extremely moisturising and like the No7 Serum, gives my skin a healthy glow. You get 50mls of this cream for £24.99 and it lasts a long time. After using this tube for 2 months, there is still product left. So I think this is extremely good value for an anti ageing cream. I will definitely be repurchasing this, as I want to see if prolonged use of the product will achieve better anti ageing results.

Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In It

I use this scrub once, sometimes twice a week. It is a great no nonsense scrub that keeps the flakies away and leaves my skin feeling super soft and smooth. Love the tingling sensation it gives too...it's addictive!

Body products I'm loving this month......

..... Sanctuary Salt Scrub and Sanctuary Ultra Rich Body Butter from the Spa Essentials range.

The Sanctuary Salt Scrub contains dead sea salts combined with coconut, jojoba and sweet almond oils.

I have one word to describe this scrub.....luxurious! I've been using this as a once a week treatment the day before I apply my fake tan. It works perfectly for me and smells absolutely divine. The salts gently exfoliate my skin, whilst the oils moisturise and leave my skin feeling ultra soft and smooth.

My skin feels so hydrated and smooth for a few days after using this, and the scent lasts such a long time on the skin. I could sniff this product all day - it smells that good! I do not have a bad word to say about it and I will always repurchase this, unless I find a better one of course, but I doubt I will!

The Sanctuary Ultra Rich Body Butter contains shea and cocoa butter, combined with wheatgerm oil. It is a very rich cream that may not be to everybody's tastes, but it's a great product for very dry skin.

This cream is extremely dense and rich. Being so thick you may think it to be somewhat greasy, but it really isn't. Once applied it absorbs fast and does not leave a greasy residue at all. It is a perfect cream for dry skin in my opinion, and has done wonders for mine! It scent of this is literally amazing - just like the Salt scrub, and lasts for hours after applying. I've been using this every day for the last few weeks and it has improved my dry skin so much - especially on my feet, and also to those rough areas such as knees, elbows etc.

Applying this after using the Salt Scrub is just a match made in heaven. My skin feels gorgeous and smells incredible! The scent is so addictive.... if Sanctuary made a perfume and deodorant to go along with the Spa Essentials range, then I would definitely buy.....too bad they don't!

I have to admit, when I saw this for the first time I was very sceptical about it. I saw it in Boots a couple of weeks ago. Squeezed a bit onto the back of my hand from the tester tube, played around with it, and with the excess that remained on my finger tip, I swiped it onto the middle of my bottom lip, walked away - didn't buy it and forgot about it. Then later that day, I noticed that my bottom lip felt extremely soft and smooth and couldn't think why.....I then realised that it must have been from using the Lanolips 101 ointment in Boots earlier that day. My top lip felt dry/flaky, and my bottom lip hydrated and smooth. I decided there and then that I would buy a tube as soon as possible. My lips wanted it!

I'm so glad that I decided to swipe a bit of the ointment on my bottom lip that day, otherwise I probably wouldn't have given it another thought. This is a product that I am literally falling in love with. It makes my lips feel seriously soft and smooth. One thing that I love about it is that once it is applied, it stays on the lips for such a long time - hours on me. So you need only apply it a couple of times a day once the lips are soft, supple and flake free. I tend to just apply this first thing in the morning and just before bed in the evenings and it's working for me - I'm waking up with soft lips every day now. It works so well! I've also used this on my cuticles and it softens them up a treat too. It's a fabulous multi purpose product!

You can also buy tinted Lip ointment, and hand cream in the Lanolips range too. I'm seriously considering trying out the hand cream!

Mac Something Special Cremeblend Blush & Viva Glam Cyndi

I popped into Mac yesterday to check out the new Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick. After swatching it on my hand, I decided that it really isn't for me. It's just too nude...concealer like. I was hoping it would be a bit more peachy than it was and slightly darker, but *sigh* it's just not to be. As disappointed as I was, I decided I could not walk away without purchasing a Viva Glam Lipstick, so I scanned the display for a much more wearable colour, swatched the Cyndi Lauper one instead and instantly fell in love. It's just so much more.... me!

I also couldn't resist buying the new Cremeblend Blush in shade Something Special. I much prefer wearing a cream blush lately. It just seems to suit my dry skin much better than a powder.

Cremeblend Blush in Something Special. Mac describe the colour as a light coral. It's lifts the complexion beautifully and when applied lightly looks like a natural flush!

I apply this either with a duo-fibre brush or simply with my fingers. It blends really well into the skin and then sets. Longevity is amazing!

Mac describe Viva Glam Cyndi as a light reddish coral. It turns more a cherry red colour on my lips though. It is a high lustre finish and very buildable. You can achieve a very light (hint of colour) application, or apply a few layers for a much more brighter/intense colour....I love going for the latter!

Like all Mac lipsticks, the lasting power is incredible....even when the glossiness has worn away...the stain it leaves behind lasts forever! I also love how you don't need a mirror to apply this lipstick...perfect for when you're on the go!

NOTD: Accessorize Illusion Aztec Nail Polish

Here is Accessorize Illusion Nail Polish in Aztec. If you haven't checked out the Illusion Colours at the Accessorize stand yet then I recommend that you do. They are beautiful multi-toned (duo chrome) colours that are really eye catching!

Aztec is such an unusual colour. Green, purple and gold depending on how the light catches it. It looks so much better in the flesh than it does on camera! The camera just cannot capture the true beauty of this polish!

The picture above was taken after applying 2 coats. However, I do think that it really needs 3 coats to achieve complete opaqueness.....I just couldn't be bothered today!

The formulation is lovely and applies smoothly and easily. I had no problems with application, and the brush is nice to use. I'm really in love with the colour. Looks so chic and expensive, yet only costs £4.00!

I've got my eye on Bronze next... it looks stunning in the bottle!

Collection 2000 Perfect Finish Foundation & Collection 2000 Big Fake Lash Mascara

I've been visiting the Collection 2000 stand quite a bit lately. I used to think their products were a bit crap if I'm being honest - the cheapest of the cheap. However, I think the brand has changed quite a bit over the years, and now produce, really good quality low price make up.

My new found love for the brand began a while back, when I tried out the Lasting Perfection foundation (which I now love). I now peruse the stand quite regularly and have bought a few items, which have left me feeling quite impressed.

These 2 products I'm about to show you, are brilliant, and well deserve a review.

Collection 2000 Big Fake Lash Mascara

What Collection 2000 say:

It plumps and stretches each lash without clumping or smudging. Achieve phenomenal length and volume. Introducing the biggest brush yet from Collection 2000. This mascara really does deliver! It gives me both volume and length, without clumping. I love the big bristly brush too, which separates and combs through the lashes really well. It is quite big though, and I found that I had to be extra careful the first few times I used it, because I poked my self in the eye with it a couple of times! Once I got use to the size though, it was fine.

The formulation is also great, but I have found that the mascara dries up quite fast. I've had this one now for just over a month, and it is beginning to dry up which is a shame. I do think it's still worth buying though as it's so cheap that it doesn't matter as much. Definitely worth a fiver and I'll be repurchasing when it runs out!

Loving this foundation! I really can't believe the quality of Collection 2000 foundations for the price!

Collection 2000 describe this as full coverage. I disagree with this as it is more light to medium (buildable) coverage, in my opinion. Unlike the Lasting Perfection Foundation, which is more medium - full coverage.

I have this in shade Natural Beige, which suits my non-tanned (Mac NC 20) skin tone well. It applies so easily, blending into the skin perfectly, giving a lovely even coverage. It feels so light on the skin too, almost like I'm not wearing any make up. It is also oil free with an SPF 20...and all for only £4.99! Longevity is incredible on me....lasts all day!

Now I don't usually use a primer, as I've always thought they were more suited to a combination/oily skin type, to help the foundation stay on longer. I have often stuck my nose up at them to be honest, but trying this primer has made me think quite differently about them. The 17 Photo Flawless primer claims to minimise pores, and do you know what? I really think it does! It doesn't make them completely disappear (seriously, what will?), but the pores on my cheeks were most certainly less visible with the primer on. For £4.99, you can't really go wrong....it's really good for the price!

17 Photo Flawless Foundation (£6.29)

''Available in Natural, Fair, Biscuit, Ivory, Honey and Caramel. These professional creamy satin finish foundations will seamlessly cover spots and dark circles and give you 24 hours of longlasting even coverage from morning ‘til night.''

I was sent shade Fair, which for me, is rather incongruous to it's name, as I find it fairly dark. Nevertheless, once applied, it matched my fake tanned skin quite well. I think this would be too dark for fairer skins though, as I would never get away with wearing this shade without my fake tan on.

I would say the foundation gives a medium - full coverage. The formulation is quite thick, and I found I had to work quickly with it to ensure an even coverage. Once applied it sets down to a very matte finish. I have dry skin so this formulation isn't really one I would normally go for, but I think this may suit an combination/oily complexion well. Applied over the primer, the foundation lasted on my skin all day, so the longevity is great. Has an SPF 15 too which is a bonus!

17 Photo Flawless Eye Pencil, Blue Black (£3.99)

''Available in shades black/blue, black/green and black/copper to perfectly accentuate the natural colour of your eyes.''

Oh my... I seriously love this pencil. It's so nice and easy to use. Not too hard or too soft, but the perfect consistency for lining the eyes. The Blue Black colour is gorgeous and I really love the look of the Black/Copper shade, which I think will look gorgeous next to green eyes. Will be picking this up next time I'm in Boots!

17 Photo Flawless Lashes Mascara (£5.99)

''These fabulous mascaras have a clever curved wand that will give your lashes a long-lasting lift and voluptuous volume from day to night. They are smudge-proof and promise to leave you saying good-bye to panda eyes.

Bare lashes on the left and with 2 coats of Flawless lashes on the right.

Again, this product is really good for the price. It separated my lashes really well and gave them some volume. The formulation is lovely, as is the brush, and it did not clump at all for me on application. It also gives my lashes a lovely curl. If you want massive big full on fake looking lashes though, then this probably isn't one for you. It gives the lashes a much more well groomed, elegant look in my opinion.

Trilogy Rosehip Oil

Let me introduce you to one of my all time favourite products......Trilogy Rosehip oil. I was first introduced to Rosehip oil and it's benefits 10 years ago, by my sister who is an aromatherapist/beauty therapist, and I've never looked back. It such an amazing product to use.....and I'll explain why.

Rosehip oil is obtained through cold pressed extraction of the seeds of the rose bush. Usually the Rosa Canina or Rosa Rubiginosa. It contains ingredients which benefit the skin, and is effective in treating a variety of skin conditions.

What Trilogy say....

It really is a wonderful natural treatment for the skin that has been used for centuries, and with regular use, can also help promote elasticity, firmness and smoothness, helping to keep skin appearing younger.

The Trilogy Rosehip oil is golden in colour, relatively odourless and comes in glass bottle with a pipette attached to the inside of the lid. This is great as you have total control over how much product comes out, and can get a perfect application each time you use it. After cleansing, I literally apply 2-3 drops onto the palm of my hand, and apply all over my face and neck (including eye area), sometimes I use 4-5 drops at night if I want to give my skin more moisture (such as during the winter months when my skin is drier). The oil absorbs really quickly and never feels greasy or oily on my skin. Within a minute (probably less) it has completely absorbed and leaves my skin feeling soft with a healthy glow. Once absorbed, I then apply my moisturiser as normal.

Rosehip oil makes my skin feel smoother, and makes it appear plump and healthy. As for the anti-ageing properties, I am often complimented on my skin, and often told I look younger than I am, I am convinced this is because of the Rosehip oil! I have read that the earlier you start using this oil the better. Starting preventative measures in your early twenties can give you a massive head start, in combating signs of ageing.

I have been applying Rosehip oil morning and night for the last 10 years, and it is hands down the best beauty product I have ever tried on my skin. I think I'd be hard pushed to find something better and what's the point? It is packed full of EFA's, antioxidants and naturally occurring vitamins that the skin loves - what could be better? Sometimes, I stop using this to try out other skin care products for my blog for the purposes of review, but my skin always suffers for it, and I truly miss it. Applying the oil has not only become habitual for me, but has also become somewhat of a ritual. I do not feel myself unless I've had my Rosehip oil fix!

There are many different brands producing Rosehip oil (I know....tried quite a few!) but I especially love the Trilogy brand Rosehip oil. It is 100% organic, comes in a dark brown glass bottle (important to prevent oxygen and light effecting the oil) with a pipette making it super easy to use. It is a high quality oil and personally for me is the best one I have used to date. Trilogy Rosehip oil retails at £16.34, but is worth every single penny. It will also last for months too, as you are only using such a tiny amount each time. So it is an investment well worth making in my opinion!

You seriously need this in your life. I'm so pleased that it is in mine. It's quite simply....the best!

The Balm Hot Mama! Blush

This is my favourite blush to pick up and use at the moment. I saw this before Christmas in TK Maxx and I snapped it up. I paid £5.99 for it which is an absolute bargain, considering that it usually retails at around £15.00! Love the retro packaging!

In case anyone isn't aware, The Balm is a cosmetics brand from San Francisco. Their line is based around simplicity, and they produce high quality multi-tasking products in quirky vintage inspired packaging.

Hot Mama Blush is a shadow and a blush in one. It is a pinky-peach shade with a shimmer that makes your cheeks glow. It is also virtually identical to Benefit Coralista, so if you have Coralista already, then you probably don't need this. However in my opinion, Hot Mama is more pigmented than Coralista and you have to apply it with a really light hand. The texture of the blush is soft, and therefore picks up onto the brush very easily. Only a tiny amount is needed for both cheeks - a little definitely goes a long way with this product!

I have not yet tried it as an eyeshadow, but I do think it would work really well for this.

I absolutely adore the colour and the subtle golden glow it gives my cheeks. This will be even more gorgeous, worn in the spring/summer months!

Spa Paradisa Sweet Coconut Lip Butter

Spotted this little beauty in Boots the other day.... Spa Paradisa Sweet Coconut Lip Butter. Anything with Sweet Coconut in the title, is put immediately in the basket where I am concerned! Coconut is my most favourite scent for body products....it's divine!

I'm in love with the quirky packaging....makes you instantly think of a holiday in paradise. Certainly something you need here in the UK at the moment, in the midst of this dreary, cold and very unpredictable weather. It is because of this dreadful cold weather that I am even perusing the lip balm stand at all. My lips are suffering badly and constantly need moisturising throughout the day to prevent them from splitting. Oh, the joys of winter!

I usually use Carmex when my lips are really dry, tight and sore. It immediately soothes, and sorts out any problems within a few days. However, lately the scent of Carmex is knocking me sick.....just one whiff makes me feel nauseas (no, I'm not pregnant!), so I have unfortunately, had to move away from it for a while and try other brands.

The balm comes in a cute little metal tin, and it is the perfect size for my pocket or handbag. It smells gorgeous.......of......well yes you already know.....coconut! Funnily enough, I never get bored of a coconut aroma. I'm in olfactory bliss when this is around, and it never makes me feel nauseous, strange!

The lip butter feels lovely on application and is is the perfect consistency, not greasy at all which I love. It stays on the lips for a long time afterwards, and feels really nourishing, moisturising and after a few days of using, my lips feel thoroughly hydrated.

It is enriched with Vitamin E, Shea Butter and is paraben free which is a bonus. I highly recommend!

No7 Skin Illuminator, No7 Exquisite Curl Mascara and No7 High Shine Gloss

No7 Exquisite Curl Mascara (£10.00)

I find the mascara really easy to use and apply. The wand is a lovely shape and gives the lashes a good coat from root to tip without clumping. It lengthens my lashes but does not give them much volume. I think this mascara is a perfect for day wear, but for evening wear I would be more likely to opt for one that gives me both volume and length, for a much more 'full on' look. This leaves the lashes looking much more natural and is ideal to wear for work.

No7 High Shine Lip Gloss, Hint (£9.00)

''Light-reflecting pearls and a special glossing agent gives lips a smooth, lustrous shine, while special collagen-boosting ingredients help make your lips appear fuller. At the same time, SPF15 protects your lips while Provitamin B5 and Vitmain E help to condition them.''

I really love this gloss. It's not too sticky and the little brush applicator is great as it just gives the right amount of product each use. The colour of this gloss is called Hint, and it is just that. It's very subtle but it gives a really lovely 'soft focus' look to the lips, with a tiny bit of shimmer. It's feels really moisturising on the lips unlike some glosses and contains an SPF 15 which is fab!

No7 Skin Illuminator - Peach (£11.00)

The tube has a twist top with a brush on the tip. You twist it 180 degrees to turn it on and squeeze the tube slightly to release some of the product into the brush. You then simply brush onto the back of the hand just in case there is any excess product on there, and then brush on the areas you want to highlight. It is super easy to use and gives a beautiful effect. Longevity is amazing too as it sets.........I'm in love!

Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In It

On the whole I find Soap & Glory products a bit hit and miss. Aside from the products I have yet to try, there are only a few that I have tried that I will repeatedly buy, and others that I just find a bit blah.

I like thousands of others in the UK, received the huge Soap & Glory box ('pink big' tote) as a gift at Christmas. Inside were a couple of products I had never tried before, the Scrub Your Nose In It and The Breakfast Scrub. I really like the texture of The Breakfast Scrub, but I can't stand the scent. It smells like a bowl of sweet porridge. Some people may love this, but I personally can't bear body products that smell of food. I want to eat food, not smell like it. I'll use it up as though as I can't bear to waste anything, but I definitely won't be repurchasing it.

My feelings towards the Scrub Your Nose In It are the complete opposite. I think this is one of the best S&G products I have tried up to date.

What Soap & Glory say:

The product itself is blue in appearance and contains finely milled grit that is perfect for the task in hand. I detest large granules, or those rubbish exfoliating beads (what are they anyway?) in a facial scrub, that do nothing at all. This scrub is neither too soft or too harsh. It is the perfect consistency in my opinion.

The scent is a rather strange but pleasing blend of citrus fruit and peppermint. When massaging into the skin you can really feel this stuff working, it makes the skin tingle and feels really refreshing. Once rinsed you are left with seriously soft and invigorated face. I couldn't believe how good my skin felt after using this for the first time. It gets rid of every trace of dead skin, clears out my pores and leaves my face feeling as soft as a babies bum!

I have been using this twice a week since Christmas and I am seriously in love. I love how smooth it makes my skin and how it brightens my complexion. The scrub is actually a scrub and mask in one. If you have oily skin, you can leave it on for a few minutes and it is supposed to help absorb excess oil etc. I have never really left it on my skin as my skin type is dry, so I can't really say if it works well for this purpose.

I also have the Soap & Glory The Greatest Scrub Of All and it seriously isn't as good as this one. The consistency isn't as perfect, and it doesn't leave my skin as smooth and soft as the Scrub Your Nose In It does. It costs £7.40 for 125ml, which seems a bit expensive, but it will lasts for many months as you only need such a small sized amount each use.

I will be re-buying this as soon as it runs out, whenever that may be? I'm so pleased I have discovered this little gem!

Chanel Vitalumiere Foundation

I bought Chanel Vitalumiere foundation in #30 Cendré the other week. After reading about it for so long I thought it was about time I gave it a try.

What Chanel say:

''Source of youth and light. This fluid foundation revives tired, dull complexions. Its fluid texture, containing moisturisers, ensures maximum comfort for the skin. Your complexion appears visibly rested, its vitality and luminosity are restored. The light texture of Vitalumiere fluid gives a slightly satin finish, for a radiant, natural, youthful-looking makeup.''

Comes in a pump bottle which gives just the right amount each use......

Swatch above. I'm not quite sure what Chanel class this foundation as? Light or medium coverage,but for me personally, it sits somewhere between the two. It is quite thin in consistency and I find it best applied with fingers. One and a half pumps is enough to cover the face an neck. It sheers out/blends with my skin beautifully and feels extremely light on. It evens out my skin tone well and gives it a really nice luminous glow. It's also really moisturising to the skin and never cakes or accentuates any dryness.

I can't fault it at all....It's fabulous and so it should be for the price. I'm almost wishing that I didn't like it as much as I do as my purse won't thank me for it....at £31.66 for 30ml it ain't cheap!

.....as I've bought myself an all singing, all dancing new Canon camera!

I've been eyeing this up for ages now, and today is the day temptation finally got the better of me. I literally skipped out of Comet with this baby tucked under my arm, grinning from ear to ear.......seriously I did!

As you can see in the pic above, I haven't even taken it out of it's box yet. Can't wait to start playing with it though, and begin taking some fab shots of my children etc.

Isn't it a great feeling buying something that you've wanted for so long? I feel like the cat that got the cream! lol

ST TROPEZ Bronzing Mousse & My Guide To Achieving A Perfect Fake Tan Every Time!

I've been using ST TROPEZ Bronzing Mousse the past few weeks and I'm really enjoying using it. It gives me such a natural looking tan (no orange here) and never goes too dark on me, which I love.

What ST TROPEZ say:-

My steps to achieving a perfect ST TROPEZ fake tan:

Exfoliate

This step is ultra important and must be done thoroughly to ensure that any dead skin cells are removed prior to tanning. If you miss this step out you will run the risk of dark patches of tan forming as it develops - not a good look!

I always exfoliate the day before I apply the tan. The reason I do this is because if you apply tan straight after you exfoliate in the bath/shower, you run the risk of an uneven tan due to the fact your skin has been, somewhat stripped of it's moisture during the process. You should not apply fake tan immediately after you moisturise either as this will also interfere with the fake tan (hello streaks!). Skin should also be at a normal temperature, so after a hot bath or shower for example, the skin will be warm so should therefore be allowed to cool back down to normal before applying any tan, to prevent and streaks/unevenness. If you prep your skin well the day before tanning, you can ensure that your skin is not only flake free, but also well hydrated.

Apply

Now everyone has their own way of applying fake tan but I find that with a mousse especially, using gloved hands is the way to go. Gloves for the body/face and a ST TROPEZ soft black Tanning mitt for the hands. I achieve a perfect tan all over with this method, every time, and yes, that includes my hands.

After gloving up (I love surgical latex gloves) I begin with my lower legs and feet. I must point out at this stage that you mustn't be shy in application, but instead, be very liberal with the product. Applying too little will only result in streaks and patchiness (believe me, I've learned the hard way). It is best to apply too much than too little, and will ensure an even tan all over. Pump the tan directly onto the skin and then rub in in circular motions. You do not have to rub it completely in, but just enough to ensure the skin has been well coated. The tint in the tan will enable you to see exactly where you have covered.

I then move up my body to thighs, hips, bum, abdomen, lower back, chest, upper back, neck (don't forget to apply right round the neck into the hairline, and behind ears), face (right up into hairline) and ears, upper arms, lower hands right down to the wrist. Once you reach this stage it is now time to tackle the most hated part for a lot of people in the fake tanning process...the hands.

Getting your hands right is probably the hardest part of fake tanning and is often where a lot of people fail, and as a consequence, give up trying. It really is not that difficult, and with some patience and practice you can achieve perfectly tanned hands every time, stress free! I've been applying fake tan for years (far too many to mention) and have had quite a few tanning disasters in this area. But with practice and trial and error, I've found a method that works for me, which could also work for you.

Start by removing the glove from the left hand. Then take the soft tanning mitt and put on the right hand over the glove. Use one pump of tan (remember that the skin is thinner on the hand and will not require a lot of tanner to achieve the same level of cover on the body) onto the glove and squish into mitt a bit. Then gently brush over the left hand ensuring that every area is covered (yes, including the inner fingers, between the knuckles - be confident). Grab each finger between the mitt and brush towards the nail. Once this is done, remove the mitt and glove from the right hand. Apply a clean glove to the left hand (the one you just applied the tan to) and then put the soft mitt over it. Repeat the process to the right hand. Remove the glove and mitt.

This next step will ensure lovely evenly tanned hands. Pop a small amount of moistuiser onto the palm of your hand and rub both palms together (if you feel you have too much moisturiser on there just pat onto a towel to rmove a bit), then lightly brush over the left hand ensuring that you are brushing all over/covering all areas, in between fingers etc. Repeat the process for the right hand, then simply get a baby wipe and very carefully remove anything left on the palms (never wash them in water, your tan will streak!). It really is as easy as that. Now all you have to do is wait for the tan to develop.

At this stage, the tan on the body with look very brown and very uneven, It really isn't though and as long as you have covered everything well (no white bits!) the tan will develop perfectly and any unevenness will be washed down the plug hole once you bath/shower later.

The tan takes 4 hours to develop. Once done you can either take a bath or shower - always a bath for me, and have a good wash down to remove any excess tan. If you discover any areas that have gone darker due to a flaky patch of skin that may have been missed during prepping. Don't panic, it is easily resolved by using a bit of body/face scrub. Pop a bit on and rub in gentle circular motions and it will even itself out (repeat the process if required). If the tan has gone darker on either elbows or knees, I find that using the gentle side of a foot file with a bit of shower gel will gently blend that away.

Finally, hydrate your skin with your favourite moisturiser, and say hello to your beautiful new tan!

Taking care of your tan

Caring for your fake tan is just as important as the process of applying it. If you do not care for your tan well in the days following, you will quite frankly end up with a very patchy tan after only a couple of days. This for a lot of people is where, they think that the brand of tan is crap and will then go on to try a different brand, only to find they have the same problem. The problem here lies in the 'after care', not the tan itself.

If you follow these two simple steps, you will have a tan that will fade evenly over the following week:-

Exfoliate & Moisturise every day

Now I'm not in any way suggesting that you should use a body scrub on your skin every day, as that would be way too harsh on the skin, but instead use a shower puff and your favourite shower gel instead (I use Soap & Glory Clean on Me with the matching shower puff and it is perfect for this). Pop a bit of shower gel on the puff and give the body a good gentle scrub all over each day. This will not make your tan patchy and will not rub it off. It will just ensure that it fades evenly all over. You then follow with a liberal application of your favourite moisturiser, and bobs your uncle, an amazing tan with no patchiness all week long, fading perfectly.

Here is the result of using the ST TROPEZ Bronzing Mousse.......

This tan is so gorgeous. I only wish it wasn't as expensive as it is. At £20.43 for 120ml it's not cheap, but if you fancy splashing out on it, it's well worth the price. I think they have changed the scent since the last time I tried it as it has a really pleasant floral aroma that it didn't have previously which is lovely.

It's very easy to apply, dries very quickly and as you can see in the picture above, develops into an extremely natural tan. It is easy to see why it is such a firm favourite amongst celebrities and why it is extremely popular in the world of fake tanning. I'm wholeheartedly a fan and will, without a shadow of doubt, purchase again and again!

Mac Shale, Romp & Star Violet Eyeshadow

I treated myself to three new (or at least new to me) Mac eyeshadows for my palettes the other week.

I bought....

Shale:- Muted mauve plum with a sutle shimmer (satin)

Romp:- Chocolate laced with gold (frost)

Star Violet:- Earth-touched pinky-brown plum fusion (veluxe pearl)

Left to right, Shale, Romp and Star Violet.

All of these shades really compliment green eyes which is one of the main reasons I chose them. As well as the fact they are all blinkin' gorgeous!

When I first applied Romp, I immediately fell in love. It's such a beautiful warm, golden brown and I have been wearing this a lot since I bought it. I even got a compliment from my other half on this one which I don't always get! It's actually a really versatile eyeshadow, as you can apply it lightly for a paler shade or heavier for a much more dark/rich colour. I can see this one becoming one of my favourites!

Liz Earle Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask, Superskin Concentrate & Superskin Moisturiser

This horrible cold winter weather has wreaked absolute havoc with my already very dry skin. As a consequence, I have been suffering from tightness and flaky skin patches, which quite frankly look horrendous underneath my foundation. This is where Liz Earle came to the rescue with three gorgeous products that have not only sorted out all my flaky problems, but also have left my skin with a lovely healthy glow.

Liz Earle Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask (£13.00, 50ml starter kit)

This lovely product comes in its own little zipped bag with a pure muslin cloth. It is a hydrating mask for dry, dehydrated or stressed skin.

''This deeply rehydrating 'moisture' mask will help to replenish, calm, condition and moisture skin''

It certainly does too! you apply a thick layer of this to the face and neck and leave on for 10 minutes. Then soak the muslin cloth in warm water, wring out and wipe off. Like all Liz Earle products, this smells of essential oils. I can smell geranium in this mainly and it's wonderful!

After using this my skin feels like it has had a real treat. It does a fabulous job of hydrating my skin whilst removing any flaky patches (with the cloth), and my skin feels beautifully soft afterwards.

Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate (£37.80, 28ml)

After using the Nourishing Treatment mask, I have been applying Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate. This is composed of 100% pure plant oils and is suitable for all skin types. It helps to soften dry or mature skin, and balance combination or oily skin. With softening argon and organic rosehip oils. Soothing neroli, lavender and chamomile essential oils, plus antioxidant natural source vitamin E.

I have been applying a small amount of this to my face and neck each evening before bed, after cleansing. If only a small amount is used, it absorbs easily and does not feel greasy. My skin adores this and literally drinks it right up. It smells strongly of essential oils, that may not be to everybody's tastes, but I personally love it and look forward to using it just so I can have a sniff....yes, I'm nuts!

Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser (£33.20, 50ml)

This is a very rich, luxurious moisturiser that has been formulated to help rehydrate very dry, mature skin types. It contains cranberry seed oil, rosehip oil borage oil and natural vitamin E, and is fragrance free. It is a very thick consistency, and because of this, I have been applying it at night time only after applying the Superskin Concentrate. It is wonderfully soothing and feels amazing on my skin. it is incredibly moisturising and works its magic during the night, leaving my skin feeling smoother and a hell of a lot more hydrated!

These three products have been a life saviour for my skin this winter, and used in conjunction with one another, have completely sorted out my dry skin problems. I have said goodbye to tight, flaky, dull skin, and hello to hydrated, plump and brighter skin thanks to these products. If you are a dry skin sufferer like me, then I urge you to give these products a go....they work!

Liz Earle products are packed full of high quality, natural plant based ingredients that do not contain any animal ingredients or mineral oils, use organic whenever possible and do not test on animals. You can't get much better than in my opinion!

Jelly Pong Pong

Here are some gorgeous products from Jelly Pong Pong that I was sent to review. Muffin & Meringue Gloss set, Crystallizer, Venus Magical Pearls, Shoe Palette and Watermelon Soap Popsicle. The packaging is so cute and very girly!

The Shoe palette in shade Vintage Stiletto (£10.00). It is a lip and eye kit that contains a cream shadow (bronze) and lip shimmer (Pearl Gloss), and comes with a little handy mirror.

Jelly Pong Pong Soap Popsicle's (£7.00) come in 8 different scents. I was sent the Watermelon version, which smells so good. The soap looks so adorable, I almost didn't want to use it as it looks so nice in the packaging! It has now been stolen from me though by my children, who are enjoying playing with it in the bath! It's a lovely soap but I do think it is rather expensive at £7.00!

This Muffin & Meringue set (£10.00) contains two lovely lip glosses. Muffin Gloss (pink) and Cherry Meringue Gloss (red). The tubes are large, so will last a long time, and they smell and taste gorgeous too!

Venus Magical Pearls (£15.00) are a highlighter and eyeshadow in one. You can swirl a brush around the pearls and apply to face and body as a highlight or crush the pearls to reveal a different colour for the eyes. The Aurora shade is a coat of gossamer highlight with a core of rich turquoise. It's a bit strange having to crush the pearls and a bit messy to use, but it does work well as both an eyeshadow and highlight.

Crystallizer (£15.00) contains micro shimmers which you can use on your face, body and hair. Includes 4 gemstone powders - Light Amethyst, Tanzanite, Firestone Ruby & White Crystal - which you can either use separately, or combine to give you an iridescent dusting.

These are so pretty and as you can see in the pictures above, they give a lovely iridescent shimmer to the skin. This product would be perfect for nights out!

Revlon Fire & Ice Lipstick and Revlon All Fired Up Nail Enamel

Revlon relaunched their infamous Fire & Ice lipstick and All Fired Up Nail Enamel last month. It was originally released in 1952 and featured Dorian Leigh in the promotion adverts and became one of the most iconic beauty launches ever.

Revlon Fire & Ice Super Lustrous Lipstick (£7.29) and Revlon All Fired Up Nail Enamel (£6.29)

The formulation of the Nail Enamel is fantastic. It has quite a small brush, but is so easy to apply that it doesn't matter. I actually found that one coat was enough to achieve opaqueness, which is great if you're in a rush as it dries so fast!

This is such a gorgeous vintage warm tomato red shade. It is extremely pigmented, easy to apply and is very moisturising on the lips. I have discovered that the Revlon Colorstay 'Red' Lipliner is a perfect match for this lipstick, and is what I have lined my lips with in the photo.

I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas and New Year?

Must apologise for the lack of posts these past few weeks. I have been super busy, and my evenings have been mainly spent getting ready for Christmas etc. Also the cold and snowy weather left me feeling a bit miserable and uninspired. Thank goodness it's all over with!

I'm going to make much more of an effort from now on though, and will be posting a lot more often. I have many things to blog about so watch this space :)

Elemis Devils Mint Body Scrub

I've been using this Elemis Devils Mint Body Scrub for a few weeks now.

What Elemis say.....

''This revitalising, fresh Mint body scrub gently cleanses, nourishes and smoothes the body by removing dead skin cells. Contains skin-friendly, exfoliating sea plant particles, cleansing Sweet Betty Flower, detoxifying Devils Apron Seaweed and naturally antiseptic Peppermint Essential Oil.''

This is a lovely exfoliator. It is very gentle on the skin as it is not a gritty scrub. Instead, it contains gentle particles suspended in a gel, which do exfoliate my skin well without being too harsh. This would be ideal for anyone with sensitive skin.

It smells absolutely wondeful....creamy peppermint, and feels so refreshing on application. After using this my skin feels smooth and revitalised. I've been using this on the days in-between applying my fake tan and I find that it's the perfect product for this. As it is only mildly abrasive, it takes away any dead skin without rubbing away my tan. My tan has been fading so evenly with this product. I'm loving it!

Naked Palette Look FOTD

It is sooooo cold here at the moment, and I was well and truly freezing whilst in town yesterday Christmas shopping. I had a look in All Saints and clapped my eyes on this woolly winter hat....it was promptly purchased and adorned as soon as I left the shop..... most certainly needed in this weather, and my ears and head were thankful for it! It's so warm and I'll be wearing it out all winter long....I hate feeling cold!

Sleek Sparkle Palette

I'm so exited about this new limited edition 'Sparkle' palette by Sleek. It was released on Thursday and I couldn't wait to get me hands on one!

There are 9 glittery eyeshadows, two pearlescent, and the usual matte black shade. The colours in this palette are so twinkly and beautiful. It's hard to capture on camera just how sparkly they actually are. The glitter particles that the shadows contain are really finely milled, and they look absolutely amazing under artificial light!

Here are the swatches (taken under artificial lighting). they are so much more twinkly than this in the flesh......

They are so gorgeous. I could take or leave the Gold Ribbon and Tinsel shades but I'm in love with the others.

The eyeshadows are rather soft and I predict at this stage that there will be a lot of fallout on application. So I think that it would definitely be best to apply the eyeshadows first before any other make up, such as foundation, otherwise there will be glitter everywhere!

Such a beautiful palette....will be creating a look with it very soon.!

Famous Dave's Tanning Mousse Gold Edition

You know how much I love fake tan right? Well I've been giving Famous Dave's Gold Edition Mousse a go for the past few weeks and I'm loving it!

Famous Dave's has quite a cult following and has been raved about in top selling magazines such as Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan. They have a great selection of different self tanners, in cream, mousse and spray form, alongside body scrubs and tanning accessories, such as mitts and back applicators.

I've been using the Gold Edition Tanning Mousse. What Famous Dave's say....

I applied the Tanning Mousse using the Famous Dave's Tanning Mitt. The formulation is wonderful and glides on easily. It is tinted so you can easily see where you have been. I applied it in a circular motion starting from my feet and moving upwards...legs body, back, face, arms and lastly hands. The formula does not really smell of anything on application so it is true that it is an odourless formula. When the tan was developing, I didn't get a strong biscuit scent like I do with other tanners, it isn't completely odourless while it is developing, but the scent that eventually emerges, is neither a strong nor unpleasant aroma.

The tan dries super fast so you can get dressed pretty much straight away and develops within 4-6 hours. I prefer to apply the tan in the daytime as I feel it develops much more uniformly this way, as sometimes if applied and left on overnight, there is a risk of sweating, which may result in unevenness. After the developing time I take a shower and I'm left with a lovely even and completely streak free, natural looking tan.

Here is the result.....

I love the colour of the finished result. There is absolutely no risk of ending up looking like an Oompa Loompa with this. Just a very natural healthy bronzed look. It lasts such a long time on the skin too. A full week for me, fading slowly and evenly....... incredible!

If you're a fan of self tan then I urge you to try this brand. It is seriously, in my opinion, one of the best fake tans on the market!

I was recently sent a selection of samples from a company called Made From Earth for consideration.

I was sent samples of the Green Tea Toxin Cleanser, Rose & Hibiscus Face Serum, 3 Berry Face Cream, Vitamin Enriched Face Firming and 3 Organic Lip Balms.

Green Tea Toxin Cleanser ($15.99, £10.00 approx) for 8oz

''The Green Tea Toxin Cleanser is enhanced with vitamins A, B, C and E. It does not contain any chemicals and is therefore is hypoallergenic and non-irritating for people with sensitive skin. The Aloe Vera base in the cleanser combines with Green Tea to provide an antioxidant boost to remove free radicals restoring healthier skin. This product does not contain the typical surfactant or detergent ingredient that most cleansing gels contain; it is a chemical-free gentle cleanser.''

This is a nice refreshing and gentle cleanser. You simply apply to damp skin, massage for around 30 seconds and then rinse with warm water. It is...what I would term...a medium consistency. Neither runny or thick and has a pleasant fresh natural scent. It does a fabulous job at cleansing my skin and removes all traces of make up...a non fussy cleanser that does exactly what it is meant to.

Rosehip & Hibiscus Face Serum ($24.99, £16.00 approx) for 2oz

''The Rosehip & Hibiscus Face Serum is beneficial for sensitive skin types. Rose hips are a rich source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and Vitamin C. It plays a vital role in the regeneration process of skin cells and the repair of damaged tissues. It helps to reduce the appearance of scars, fine lines and restoring the skin's moisture balance. Hibiscus is known for its ability to cleanse, tone and balance the skins delicate pH. It provides moisturizing benefits for a fresh healthy complexion that has a cooling effect. Hibiscus is rich in AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) and amino acids that provides a tightening effect to the skin without stripping the natural (sebum) oils.''

I've been applying this serum after using the Green Tea Toxin Cleanser. It is quite a runny consistency....what you would expect a serum to be and only a small amount is needed to cover the face and neck area. It is relatively odourless - having a very mild herbal scent. It is recommended on the website to wait 5 minutes before applying any moisturiser to give the serum a chance to sink into the skin. I do think that this is a good idea with this product as it can take a while to absorb. I've also discovered that you only need a very small amount, as applying too much can leave my face feeling a bit sticky. However, if a very small amount is used, sinks into skin quite quickly.

With this minor problem aside, it is a lovely serum that feels cooling/refreshing on application. As I've only been using the serum for a short period of time (about 2 weeks), I haven't noticed a massive difference in the appearance/texture of my skin. However I have noticed that my skin feels and looks plump and well moisturised (no dry patches), but I cannot say for sure whether it is this product alone making a difference or a combination of all the Made From Earth products together?

3 Berry Face Cream ($27.99, £18.00 approx) for 2oz

''This cream has antioxidant properties (cranberries) to fight the daily assault on your skin from free radicals (great for acne prone skin). Raspberry adds a soothing, non-stimulating effect, while blueberry neutralizes free radical damage to the matrix of skin cells.''

The cream has a gel like consistency that feels very light on the skin when applied. It doesn't smell overly fruity as you may imagine it to, but instead, has a indistinct natural scent. It sinks into my skin quickly and easily providing an excellent base for make up. Not much else to say about it really...a good overall organic moisturiser.

Vitamin Enriching Face Firming Serum ($39.99, £25.50 approx) for 2oz

''This serum contains powerful organic nutrients of DMAE, vitamin A, B, C and E, and alpha lipoic acid along with the wonder oil meadowfoam. Our blended formula counteracts dryness that occurs in aging skin and increases the moisture retention capacity. This will eventually improve your skins elasticity. ProVitiamin B5 stimulates skin regeneration while the organic compound DMAE immediately tightens and firms the skin for a fresh youthful appearance.''

This serum, like the rosehip & hibiscus serum is a runny consistency and again, only a small amount is needed to cover the face and neck area. I have to admit, I'm not very keen on the scent of this product (hard to describe), but once applied the scent disappears relatively quickly so it's not much of a problem. This product is a night treatment and should be applied after cleansing and prior to applying any moisturiser. It does take a while to sink into the skin and can feel a bit sticky if too much is used. My skin feels well moisturised after using this alongside the 3 berry face cream.

As with all these products, I have only been applying them for around 2 weeks so I haven't noticed any dramatic results, but my skin does feel well moisturised and supple. It would be hard for me to pinpoint which product is making my skin feel this way, but I do think it may be the combination of the serums and the moisturiser combined.

Made From Earth Organic Lip Balms (Varies in price from $2.50 - $4.99, £1.60 - £3.50 approx)

''This organic and chemical free lip balm contains vitamin-rich sunflower seed oil and protecting beeswax to avoid a chapped lip texture to aid the production of collagen in the lips''

There are 5 different scents available to choose from on the website.....blueberry, orange, vanilla, mocha and spearmint. I was sent orange, blueberry and vanilla, and they are lovely lip balms. The scents/taste are very true to the natural ingredients they contain, and they are really moisturising and nourishing on my lips. I'm thoroughly enjoying using these and I highly recommend them. My lips have been getting quite dry due to the colder weather and these have been a life savour. My favourite of the 3 is the Citrus...it smells just like an orange being peeled...gorgeous!

Sleek Bad Girl Palette

I picked up Sleek's new Bad Girl Palette a couple of weeks ago.

As usual, the palette contains 12 shades and is great value for money, costing £5.99. A serious bargain for the quality of the eyeshadows.

This palette is not dissimilar to the limited edition Graphite palette that Sleek released a year ago. Although this one does contain deep green and blue shades that the Graphite palette did not. I really love the shades included - they are ideal for creating sultry/dark make up looks that are perfect for the party season!

Sleek have now started to name the colours in the palettes. Although I think this a great idea, I do think that they need to actually put the names on the back of the palette, as the names are basically printed onto the inner transparent sleeve. Which personally for me, seems a bit pointless, as the inner sleeve quite frankly either goes missing or ends up in the bin.

The shades are all richly pigmented, fab to apply and blend really easily. You do get a bit of fallout with these but it's not really a problem for me, as I simply apply the eyeshadow before my foundation so that the fallout can be wiped away without any fuss.

I used this palette at the weekend for a night out, but stupidly I forgot to take photos of the finished look. I was kicking myself all night about it. I'll be creating some looks with it soon though and will share them when I do.

Meet my new purchase. Bare Escentuals bareMinerals All Over Face colour in Faux Tan.

I bought this after watching Wayne Goss (gossmakeupartist) raving about it in his best product of the month video. I really love watching Wayne's videos. I find him really honest and open about beauty products. He says that this is the only bronzer he carries around in his kit as it suits nearly all skin tones and is his all time favourite. One of the reasons he loves it so much is that instead of having an orange undertone like most bronzing products do, this one has a slight red undertone to it (just like a natural tan would), so it looks so much more believable and natural once applied.

With all this in mind I just had to have this in my life. I put an order in with lookfantastic and had it delivered to my door within a couple of days. It came yesterday and let me tell you, I'm more than thrilled with this product and I can clearly see why this is a firm favourite with Wayne Goss.

The bronzer comes in a little pot with an internal sifter. It is a gorgeous colour and contains tiny particles of shimmer. However, I've discovered that the shimmer is only really detectable in artificial light, as it was barely visible in natural light when I applied it today.

You really only need the smallest amount of product for the whole face. Simply tap a tiny amount of powder into the lid to around the amount shown in the picture above. This amount will easily be enough to bronze the whole face. Then simply swirl a kabuki into the lid and apply.

You can build up this bronzer easily. If it isn't strong enough, you just need to repeat the process. Doing it this way ensures you get an even and perfect coverage.

This bronzer is absolutely fabulous, so thank you Wayne for raving about this as I may have never known about it otherwise! It is honestly the perfect colour - no orange whatsoever. Looks so natural on and gives the skin a lovely finish. The longevity is also amazing - it has been on all day and is still going strong!

I can also see that this bronzer will last me a long time too, as such a minuscule amount is needed for application. It cost £17.00 and is a great price for the amount you get.
